Nights sweats and Shingrix vaccine

Posted by mjq @mjq, May 21, 2021

I had the shingles vaccine on May 4. That night I experienced a terrible night sweat. Ever since that night I sweat every night excessively. At least one or two nights a week I must get up and change my night clothes completely. I am on immune suppressant drugs. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had my 2nd Shingles vaccine 1/13/23. I had pain at the injection site and achy leg muscles shortly thereafter. Had a slight headache that night that faded. But most surprising was the intensive headache I developed on day 3 along with the night sweats that started on day 2. Yes. My night-shirt was wet enough each time I had to change in the middle of the night. I never had this reaction before to a vaccine. Was quite concerned my hormone regulating system had been affected. My headache was also different in that it mostly hurt on the sides of my head, (not the front), and it hurt in the back of my head along the outer left and right edges from just above the base of skull down to my shoulder blades. Also I noticed sound sensitivity. It’s now 1/18 and the symptoms have subsided. I’m just thankful it did not turn into a long sustained systemic effect. And I’m hoping I never need to get another shingles vaccine.

I also have experienced breaking out in sweats since I received 2nd Shingrix vaccine this past Wednesday, February 22, 2023. I have also experienced fatigue, nausea, and mild headache. Each day side effects seem to be milder. I am long past menopause or premenopausal, so no sweats prior to vaccination. I can just be sitting in a chair and break out in drenching sweat.

Hello, my name is Karen and am new to this group.

I also had the first Shingles vaccine a few weeks ago. About four plus or minus hours I started with the chills and that evening before bed vomited. The next day still had chills with muscle aches and continued with chills. These reactions lasted about a week except the vomiting stopped. I have reservations about taking the second injection which is due in six months or sooner. I guess it’s a choice of not getting or getting shingles. I have not had bad reactions to any vaccine before.
That’s my story people.

Yes, me too! I had a very high temperature through the night after the shot - sweaty, chills, aches...
But the second shot. Nothing!

Symptoms described are common. I didn’t react to the first. But I did to the second with chills, body aches and fatigue.
From what I’ve read and heard from friends, all the symptoms described by you two ladies, are common as is reacting to one of the shots but not the other. I think the positive is reacting is knowing the vaccine is working and that it’s a reaction not a virus you can expose others to.

I had my 2nd Shringrix vaccination on April 8th, 2019 at age 75 and had an adverse reaction with many of the symptoms described by others here. I am still dealing with some of the problems that go back to that date.
I have had intense drenching night sweats following the Shringrix vaccination until I had a hysterectomy in Sept 2022. I had several other vaccination symptoms dissipate following my hysterectomy.
In July 2022 they did a vaginal sonogram and found multiple female organ tumors which were all removed during the hysterectomy. Thankfully everything was benign. My theory is that the tumors were casting off chemicals that my body was trying to manage at night and this was the cause of the night sweats. Whatever the cause, it was removed with the hysterectomy.
In addition to the night sweats, I was having diarrhea routinely. This also cleared up following the hysterectomy. Other symptoms I had that cleared up were leg cramps at night, on my shins and across the top of my feet and lastly my urinary incontinence improved measurably. Not too shabby in terms of quality-of-life improvements.
In doing research prior to my hysterectomy I discovered that the tumors were seen in 2015 on some imaging but I was not told about them to even follow-up. Obviously, I didn't read the results in 2015 but since portals exist now there is no excuse.

Not suggesting this to anyone…just my experience. I got the first Shingrix shot. Don’t remember any side effects. But forgot to go for second shot…highly unlike me but under so much stress doing a big move. Have not had shingles since. Just my experience. But had I had the reaction that you all have had to either shot…I know me..I would never have had the other ever.

I got the first shot on 1/12/2022. Within a few days I developed serious night sweats that have continued to the present (April 2023). I have seen specialists, had neurology tests, tried discontinuing various medications, but nothing helps.

I should probably have mentioned that I have cancer and am on immune-suppressants.

About 14 hours after my second shot yesterday (July 23) I also experienced incredible night sweats as well as nausea and feeling like I would pass out. I had a mild headache. Feeling somewhat better but still have a mild headache. I hope it doesn’t recur. Good to know others have experienced similar symptoms. The pharmacist only said sore arm, and body aches.
