Has this happened to you, or are you worried about this happening to you? I am worried about this happening to me, because of the placement of my tumor. I found this article, Ultrasound May Help Detect Chest Wall Recurrence After Mastectomy at an Early Stage. Ying Wang et. al. J. Ultrasound Med. 2020, Dec. I would like to have information on this subject too. I hope people can weigh in on this.

Yes, my doctors suspect that I had some chest wall muscle involvement when I was first diagnosed several months ago. I am on anastrozole for six months to shrink the tumor and it may be clear right now. We'll know after surgery. It sounds like your tumor was in a "less than ideal place," like mine, as my doctors say.

Hi @kamra, I'm tagging fellow members @mssewest @seathink @thielmann1, as I believe they also have experience with breast cancer that involved or spread to the chest wall.

Kamra, when will you be having surgery?

Yes, I had triple negative BC and in the month between my first ultrasound and my first diagnostic mammogram the cancer had spread from breast to my lymph nodes, chest wall, and skin.

Since it was TNBC treatment was always going to be chemo first, then a mastectomy and they added radiation post surgery because of the chest wall. I did 35 rounds of radiation, 25 whole breast and 10 targeted. I also took an oral chemo at home for a year after that.

Keep in mind that triple negative is a tougher cancer with limited treatment options, so everything is much more old school. Hopefully you will have more things that your docs can do for you.

Hugs! Keep us posted.

According to yahoo news, there’s triple negative breast cancer vaccine. One woman already completed such trial in Jan, 2023. Ask your doctor about it. Good luck to you!
