How do you deal with dry eyes?

I have dry eyes due to sjogren's syndrome. Does anyone else deal with dry eyes?

I have used autologous serum tears for past 10 years. Nothing else works.

I used to take prescription fish oil until I choked on the pill. Since then I grind up short acting meds and discontinued the fish oil. I want to take the supplement. Mine was quite large. Great tip.

A rheumy dx’d me with sjogrens. Current rheumy doesn’t know what to think. Didn’t give her past history. Don’t know why I didn’t.

Good morning, Nemo!

There is a health food store near me that sells liquid fish oil. I haven't tried it yet.

My neighbor just gave me this tip on stuck pills. She drinks warm tea when a pill gets stuck. She thinks the warmth may melt the pill enough to go down. I haven't tried this yet, either.

(Are you Captain Nemo from Jules Verne novel?)
Wishing you well!

I too have suffered from dry eyes, and my opthamologist placed some plugs in some of my tear ducts, and this made all the difference in the world. In fact, I saw her yesterday and she said my eyes were in great shape, although I do need a new rx for my glasses. Good luck.

OMEGA FISH OIL Supplements- weird, but helping me!

I have an autoimmune disease, with dry eyes, but not nearly as bad as described by some of the posts here.

An optician recommended drops, humidifier, compresses-- all the usual-- AND fish oil supplements, which surprised me. I didn't really comply with the fish oil.

Then, my cardiologist told me to take fish oil, too. So I started taking them. Since the time I started being really compliant with the fish oil supplements, the dry eyes have improved! Noticeably! It took a couple of months to see the results in my eyes, but now I can tell if I've skipped the supplement (which I do sometimes, unfortunately. I take a lot of pills and sometimes I just can't take another one...You probably know the feeling.)

Good luck, everybody!

YES! I know the feeling. Just trying to work all the pills and supplements in during the day! I usually do not get all the supplements in but I do take the Rx drugs.
I have been using a humidifier at night by my bed because the CPAP really dries my mouth. I will start using it in the daytime also.
DRY EYES. When I went for the eye exam in prep for cataract surgery, my eyes were so dry that the Doc could not complete all the measurements. She prescribed Systane eye drops 2 X a day for 2 weeks and come back for another exam. The next exam is coming up soon.

Are systane eye drops prescription or OTC?
Thanks!

They are OTC. I LIKE THEM MOTR THAN THE JEL DROPS OR THE VERY THIN/WATERY DROPS. The CONSISTENCY DEEMS TO BE IN BETWEEN

Systain eye 👁 drops are OTC. They also make an OTC ointment that is excellent.

I use Systane Hydration PF (preservative free), and occasionally I use Systane Night Gel at night.
