Dry Eye, etc…Anyone have their eye cross?

Posted by Goaway @nemo1, Feb 15, 2023

In January My left eye crossed for about 7 seconds 3x. Different days in January. I rubbed the eyelid over the eyeball, it did nothing to release it. I’m concerned. Its happened in the past but only once in a blue moon.

It makes my vision appear to be kaleidoscope. It did not hurt. I just could not do anything until it went back to normal. It in effect blinded me. I could not make out anything so stayed put. If this happens and I drove (which now I don’t other reasons), I would cause an accident, so to me, its something.

My eye dr said to come in if it happened again (dismissive)…

I see a neuromuscular dr in march, was going to mention this (such an odd thing).

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any ideas? Suggestions?

I haven't had this happen to me. But you probably should see a neurologist. This is something that may be related to your brain, rather than your eyes. It could be an eye muscle imbalance but this usually happens in very young children.

By your description, this almost sounds like an ocular migraine. I have had them for years, usually when under stress or when outside in direct sunshine. The first time it happened, I was at a swim meet for my children. Wasn't sure what was happening but it passed after about 20 minutes. For me, I was born with double vision so it would go from one eye and then the second eye with about 5-10 minutes each eye. I never had a migraine with it but have noticed the day after will get a headache. I only learned this from my ophthalmologist. Here's an article that may be helpful: https://www.visioncenter.org/conditions/ocular-migraine/

Thank you for your post. My medical history is a cornucopia. I’ve had weird muscle things happen over the last 25 years, I’ve accrued symptoms that have no dx home. Yet. I think I might get somewhere with the NM doctor…I hope.
