Anyone else dealt with these bacteria?
Because of frequent exacerbations, my pulmonary doctor at Mayo ordered another Chest CT and Bronchoscopy. They isolated two bacteria from the bronchoscopy: ACHROMOBACTER XYLOSOXIDANS and SERRATIA LIQUEFACIENS. Does anybody know anything about these? My coughing and mucus production have gotten worse. Still doing three nebulizer and SmartVest sessions each day.

@chattey2, We love success stories!!! Happy for you too.
May I know the dose of the Bactrim? 1600mg/per day? Are you feeling better? Bactrim was hard on me, that's why I asked.
Actually, the Bactrim treatments never really got rid of the infection. My doctors ultimately put me on an alternating rotation of Colistimethate and Cayston (each one for 30 days, both nebulized), in addition to my regular breathing treatments with albuterol and 7% sodium chloride. I was on that rotation of inhaled antibiotics for about 8-9 months, and after that my sputum culture no longer showed the Achromobacter infection. At this point, I am hoping it doesn't "rear its ugly head" again....
I have never heard of those. Of course I'm new to all this! I coughed a blood on January 5th, went to the hospital and they saw Mass on my lung. They ordered a pet scan which showed a mass on my lung but the impression was that it was an infection. They did the bronchoscopy and from there I found out that I had Klebsiella pneumonia e and this Mac infection which doesn't sound very good. The hits just seem to be coming. I hope that you feel better. I hope that you can find the right medication to get you on so you feel better! I don't have a lot of symptoms but I am short of breath.
May I know what bacteria you were treated with Bactrim? For Picc line, what antibiotic you got?
The Bactrim that I took was intended to treat the Achromabacter infection.
Thank you!
