Complications/symptoms after Gallbladder Surgery
Hello. I am a Male 32. I had my gall bladder removed 4 days ago. Since I have had strange pains and feelings. Nausea after I eat Everytime. I realized after it's removal my stomach will have swelling, but it feels like there is a Large Knot just right of my Belly button. I also have had severe Hunger type pains. It's the only thing that I can compare it too. Very bad and painful pains that resemble Severe Hunger pains. I have also had headaches since the surgery. Mainly the right back of my head, it feels like there is a Knot under my skull almost. It doesn't hurt severely, but it does hurt sometimes worse than others. And nothing seems to help. Almost a throbbing pain. And of course pain across my entire abdomen. Top to bottom. Side to side. Which is to be expected I guess. But I have have more pain in my right chest and under my left breast off and on. What of these are to be expected and not?

Hi! I am doing some research because I have the same issue I had my appendix removed when I was 17 and my gallbladder when I was 19… I had gallbladder issues since middle school and doctors kept telling me it was acid reflux when I knew it wasn’t. I have been dealing with many stomach problems that got worse after each surgery and I am at a loss of what to do. I’ve had a colonoscopy and endoscopy a few times. I’ve had an MRI and doctors don’t know what’s wrong. I know that it’s really difficult to deal with so if she ever wants to talk to someone I would love to be there in support with her! If you have found any helpful information i would also love to know! Things that have mildly helped are taking supplements especially probiotics, collagen(vital proteins), and other digestive supplements and supplements to help break down fat(since we don’t have gallbladders) I have also stopped eating dairy, gluten, onion and garlic which sucks because they’re in everything but it has helped.
I hope this helps!
You are describing exactly what is happening to me right now. Dropped gallstones remained in my abdomen and embedded into soft tissue on my liver and near my diaphragm. Months later, I couldn’t eat, nauseated,lost 25 lbs, pain under right rib and gradually moved to my back.CT scan showed the stones and abscessed. Had surgery to remove them today. More pain with this surgery as the surgeon had to scrape (debridement) the pus away. Sliced off the one stuck to my liver. A special surgeon had to do this ( HPB surgeon).
Pain in shoulder worse this time as he worked near the diaphragm and irritated the nerve which connect to the shoulder. Hopefully will resolve soon. Shoulder pain is worse than abdominal pain and is not relived by NSAIDS because it is nerve pain. Hope you have mended.

@sarwat03
4 weeks ago can sometimes feel as yesterday.
Sorry you have flu symptoms- I don’t think this is cause of your pain on both sides.
It probably is not unusual, but you should give the surgeon’s office a call and tell them.
The belly is a large space where we can’t see what happens, but the surgeons have a good idea.
I am going on 2 weeks of having laparoscopic gallbladder surgery. I am also feeling very dizzy, nauseated & have those weird feelings. I was hoping it was part of the recovery but the nurse for my surgeon says she never has heard of that happening after surgery so I'm lost.
Have you had blood work to determine your TSH level. That should give you an indication of whether you have hypothyroidism. Also, measuring antibodies in blood show if it is caused by Hashimoto hypothyroidism. I have hypothyroidism and it didn’t show up right away but eventually did after morning fasting blood work.
Thanks for sharing! Hope you'll feel much better & the surgery, as treatment, would eventually accomplish its intent: remove pain & suffering. The info in this support group firmed my decision against cholecystectomy! Especially b/c seniors like me can no longer afford (health wise & financially) the complications triggered by the surgery. Take care everyone & let's hope for the best! I also wish/pray for all in this support group a speedy recovery. Let's all get well & eat gluten-, fat-, sugar- free food. I am still searching 4 these on the web w/c sometimes give contradictory advice; therefore, I resort to Mayo Clinic as a reputable source of valuable medical info! When feeling better, try gentle yoga, walking, etc. Godspeed to ALL!
