Is the Vaccine safe for someone who has the MTHFR mutation?
Has anyone with the MTHFR gene mutation taken the COVID vaccine? If so, were there any bad side effects?

Hello! My son will be 7 in September. He has the mutation MTR(2756 A>G), MTFR(677 C>T), MTRR(66 A>G) heterozygous carriage . Increased homocysteine,Ig E (total) increased 3 times and elevated Ig A, Ig G to gliadin. I want to ask about the necessity and safety of the Covid19 vaccination?
I have not found any articles indicating they have done any genetic research for the vaccine. Even after healthy young adults and children are having life altering side effects from it. They don’t care. They claim that only a small portion of the population is having side effects but when doctors are being threatened to not report to VAERS or VAERS ignore these reports, there’s something wrong with the system. I have seen a healthy physician become paralyzed and lose his job because he cannot perform surgeries. No underlying conditions and has had the flu vaccine and others required for his job without issues. The vaccine is suposta keep you out of the hospital and off the ventilator but it doesn’t do that. It’s just not getting reported that vaccinated people are dying too. It’s a big pharm bully tactic. I’m not against vaccines but this is not a vaccine. We are all the test subjects and they are not doing the right research for this shot.
Thank you for speaking out. Doctors are afraid to speak out about the vaccine injured (like me) but will tell me in private how many sick patients they have - and no tools in their books for this. I am scared how many more people will have long term side effects if they keep pushing booster after booster in a short period of time, especially for those of us with sensitive systems. I reported to VAERS and then a few months after VAERS sent a computerized follow up asking if I was still sick and I said yes with a list of symptoms. Nothing since then. I think it is a formality rather than an actual research tool.
My daughter also has the MTHFR and has had ongoing health issues for 2 years is also required to get the vaccine. I personally suffered a frozen shoulder after receiving the vaccine and am concerned about my daughter’s response.
I have MTHFR. I'm finding new things about it all the time. I take a vitamin, to help process the folate and Bs (FYI, sometimes the 'diabetic nerve pain' or restless legs is NOT that but a build up of vitamin Bs. How to check? Drink lots of water to flush your system. Stop any extra vitamin Bs you are taking-you know for 'extra energy'-and pay attention to your pain. If you have less in 24hrs, it's a Vitamin B build up. ) Anyhow-I did fine my 1st vaccine, but it was an 'on' week of the vitamin to process folic acid/bs. 2nd shot, sicker then a dog BUT it was an OFF week-I can't do the flu vaccine for the same reason, I get sicker than a dog! Anyways, when I called and asked the nurse what the hay this didn't happen the 1st time, and we went through all my meds, this was the only difference, and I explained I was on it for MTHFR Syndrome, she said it was going to be put in the data base, and those with MTHFR would be advised to just take the vitamin. I didn't even have a sore arm! I was ready to gnaw my arm off with that 2nd shot LOL!!!
I have a new provider and when I mentioned I have MTHFR so I wasn't planning on getting the 3rd booster she just looked at me and said "that's stupid, why not?" And I explained all this, and the fact that I had gotten the vitamin through them, couldn't remember the name, and they 'no longer carried over the counter items in their pharmacy' she told me that "MTHFR isn't serious and I should just get over it". I'm looking for a new provider.
This is an old post but I thought I would share my experience. I have the mthfr gene and got the doses of the Moderna vaccine in June 2021. I ended up with Covid in December of 2021. I recovered fine from it. By Jan 2022, I woke up one day barely being able to see out of my right eye. I had developed a fully mature cataract (doctor gave it a 10/10 of severity). My left eye was bad as well. Now, I had microscopic cataracts my entire life but my eye exam in the summer of 2021 showed they would qualify for surgery but not at the level they were the following January. I had them removed in March 2022. Chalk it up to what you will but I was only 40 at the time of removal. Was it related? I’m not sure but I know that both the vaccine and mthfr are both a risk factor for advanced cataracts.
This is interesting. I also had rapid deterioration of a cataract after the Covid vaccine. I wouldn't have suspected a connection except I developed an autoimmune response to the vaccine that caused sensory and motor peripheral neuropathy. If you have information about the vaccines or Covid and cataracts, it would be great if you could post the link here. Thanks for your post.
Yes and yes.
I also have MTHFR mutation, but I can’t connect any of my issues to having received the vaccines (4). What I can say definitively is that I got COVID in April 2022 and my body has not been the same since. I’m seeing an endocrinologist in 2 weeks, took 6 months to get this appointment.
