Something has helped clear my mind of fog

Posted by rsfcowgirl @rsfcowgirl, Jan 4, 2023

I've been suffering what we refer to as "brain fog for over a year. I had improvement with a short course of steroids 6 months ago but it was short lived. Someone recently gifted me NAC supplement with information+ I've been taking 600 mgs 2-3 times a day. This formulation is compounded with molybdenum +selenium. I noticed an improvement very quickly. I have clearer thinking, better short memory, improved executive functioning and higher tolerance for less than ideal sleep. I can concentrate very well now. And my overall mental processing is faster. I'm more verbal now. It's been a change that had endured for several weeks. I'm had no other changes in anything. Just this.
My experience is subjective and there's no way I can claim this supplement is the catalyst for improvement. It could have been an improvement just bc of time. My results don't *prove*- but since there are no side effects or contraindications that I know of, I'm continuing to take this, along with several other supplements.
I just wanted to pass this along. It's inexpensive and if people are just experimenting, this may be something to 'try.'

@poppy67

May I ask what you experience after a stressful event or period of time?

I have a drop in BP, arrhythmia, notable decline in mental processing, major exhaustion, weakness, poor coordination + an unusual type of feeling akin to, but not exactly, anxiety.

A word of caution. After reading these responses I started NAC 600 mg one tablet in the am. After taking it the next morning I developed the worse headache I have ever had. Ended up in the ER and 7 days later still have a frontal pressure headache. To have an MRI of my brain tomorrow. Would encourage others to check with their providers first before taking any supplements. They are not regulated and studies show some have had dangerous chemicals in them.

Hi Colleen. I just came upon the rest of this thread that I had not seen before today. Please let me know if you would prefer that I not post any medically unauthorized supplements for Post CV or modalities that I use or try for myself. And please feel free to just remove any posts I've made that you feel may not serve the best interest of the forum at your discretion. No explanation needed. I only want to contribute what would be helpful, as you define it.
You are appreciated here. Thank you for all you do.

No issues with evidence-based complementary and integrative medicines. There was an issue at the end of January with some of the notifications going through, so that might explain why you didn't receive notice of some of the posts.

Thank you, this supports what I just learned. I have NAC and Quercitin on order from iHerb.com. Can't hurt!

I have recently been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism. This has been ongoing for 2 years but finally have an answer. The brain fog started in late May and is frustrating as a teacher who tutors and teaches a STEM camp during the summer and I have been messing up schedules the last several weeks. I have been searching for solutions and a friend just found NAC listed as an option for Covid Brain Fog and I just ordered this and will try to see if it lifts Hyperparathyroidism Brain Fog. I am hopeful as surgery won’t happen for about 3 months.

Besides NAC, what other supplements are you taking?

I had brain fog months ago because of my cancer. At 100 pounds and such I was physically weak and always needed to triple check easy tasks, gaining weight past 120 has helped immensely.

Thank you for sharing this caution. I too have learned that supplements can have dangerous side effects.
