Posted by cjuln1 @cjuln1, Jan 23, 2023

My toes are numb when I wake up in the morning, balls of feet feel puffy, as soon as I stand up, it all goes away, then the same thing starts over the next night, any suggestions??

Hi @cjuln1, Welcome to Connect. It's frustrating to not know the cause for symptoms. I'm not a doctor, but do your symptoms sound like the symptoms of Morton's Neuroma?

"Morton's neuroma involves a thickening of the tissue around one of the nerves leading to your toes. This can cause a sharp, burning pain in the ball of your foot. You may have stinging, burning or numbness in the affected toes."

Have you discussed the symptoms with your doctor or a podiatrist?

Thank You too much!
I did mention it to my doctor, however he suggested a test that is like acupuncture....made me nervous.....I read up on Morton's and I will try some if the home remedies first. I started doing like 50 jumping jacks a day before Christmas and I think this is what started it,
Thanks again,

I have had that for about 3 years. The numbness in toes does not go away completely, but is worse in the morning. When I wear shoes, it feels like walking on bubble wrap. Its a neuropathy related symptom,
I had Morton's neuroma about 25 years ago, and it is definitely not the same thing. I took injections for that and it went away after about 6 months.

Hello cjuln1
You mentioned that your physician suggested a test to obtain information to determine a diagnosis, it sounds like they are recommending an EMG. As a provider myself, I suggest that you follow through with what your doctor has suggested. Home remedies are great when it is used in combination with medical treatment and recommendations. It is important to obtain a medical diagnosis as opposed to reading information and guessing what it might be. Many times when peripheral neuropathy is treated early it makes a difference in outcomes. I hope you find out what is causing the numbness in your feet and have a successful treatment. Please keep us informed.

I had an ileocecal bypass 47 years ago, that has never been reversed. In 2017, I had a hi-grade Barretts Esopgagus and a Nissen Fundaplication for a hiatal hernia. I also had a prolapsed uteus(hysterectomy) and a telescoping bowel repair within 5 years after the bypass. I was very healthy, and did not have the severe issues with malabsorbtion, connective tissue loss, and neuropathy, that I am developing now. I do have Reynauds, and in the last 2 months have developed a Lumbar hernia between my Iliac crest and lowest rib on my back. Really weird. Scans show it contains intestine, but I can't get into an OHSU bariatric surgical consultation until mid June! Hopefully it is not my last 15" of small intestine in that bulge!

By the way, I live on vitamins! I eat a high protein diet, and drink a lot of fluids. I am missing all but 15" of my small intestine, so I am missing the areas that absorb the vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy body. I also have to be careful of dairy, grains, and fatty foods, because of "flatulence and diarrhea." Soy products are also NOT my friend! This FAKE MEAT STUFF wreaks havoc on my body!
Increasing my Thiamine, Niacin, Folate, and starting a Rx of 2.5mgAmLODIPine Besylate, has helped my neuropathy in my feet.
The bilateral, sudden onset, neuropathy, in my feet didn't start until after my 2nd Moderna C-19 vaccine. After the booster(3rd), all my B levels dropped like a bomb, I had horrible fatigue issues, muscle weakness, and my dormat Reynauds in my hands, went crazy!

Hi. I have severe GERD, and can't eat meat or even some fish like salmon. 99% of the fake meat I've checked the nutrition labels on (because I'm always looking for something I can eat) are *loaded* with fat. I can eat a couple of Morningstar Farms products, and BOCA original burgers.

Most of my protein comes from beans and TVP. More recently, because I've developed diverticulosis, I find I can only eat white beans, because they have some of the thinnest skins. I also find that the TVP, which is made from soy, bothers my GERD. So instead of soy products, I've started trying out wheat based fake meat I'm finding on Amazon. So far, my Gerd isn't affected by them.

I also can drink Carnation Instant Breakfast Light Start. I can also drink Muscle Milk Zero powder. Both mixed with fat free skim milk, and sometimes I add ice or frozen fruit to make it more like a milkshake or smoothie. I also keep a couple cups of Oikos (zero fat) yogurt in the freezer, and I'll throw one of them in too.

Also aged cheese like feta and also aged cheddar. I can't touch provolone or mozzarella, but those aged cheeses I can eat just fine.

These are just some things I've found I can tolerate to get some protein. Hope you can get some ideas to try that are soy alternatives for protein.

Best wishes to you that you find some solutions and relief soon.
