2 ReactionsDebbie - We have a fiberglass stall showers and when my PN started, I got these suction cup grab bar holders, and they really work! They are 12 inches long - where else but Amazon! I think 2 for like $30. I have them in all bathrooms, and they are actually hard to get off. Great because you can put them where you want, I'm tall so I need them up high. Just thought I'd mention this for those who need balance when showering. Best yet, if you travel, take them with you.

9 ReactionsLet me know if the Tegretol works for you! I’m on 400 mg twice a day.
I think having a good physical therapist look at that could help. Physical therapy becomes part of the treatment as neuropathy progresses. They are knowledgeable people!

3 Reactionsjulbpat - on the physical therapy, I am currently in PT for balance. I have numbness and I find it helpful so yes, part of treatment and I suggest to those who can do it give it a try. Not easy but any small improvements can be helpful.

1 ReactionThanks - what a perfect solution for the new home we purchased yesterday. I went out and bought some like you suggested, so can safely use the walk-in shower and can de-prioritize (maybe eliminate) getting permanent bars in the wall. Brilliant!!! Any thoughts for the toilet? For now, one hand on the toilet seat & the other on the sink counter gets me up, but I don’t think that’s a permanent solution, and those suction things don’t work as they do in fiberglass. I appreciate any ideas!!!

2 Reactions@margaretob Have you discussed your pain with your regular doctor? Your symptoms sound a lot like a form of arthritis causing the joint pain. A rheumatologist might be a good specialist to see.
Hi Debbie, I have a toilet rail that slides up to the toilet and makes it super easy for us old folks. They have more expensive models but this is the one that I like the best: https://www.amazon.com/Stand-Alone-Toilet-Rail-Vive/dp/B015789VQI/ref=pd_lpo_3. I also have another one for my upstairs bathroom that is more portable and folds up: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075NRWN1Q/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1.
