Ways to clean aerobika?

Posted by @ling @wangling, Jan 16, 2023

Hi community,
Could you share your experience of how to clean aerobika? Right now I only soak it in the dish ditergent for 15 minutes. Can you boil it?

Thanks!

I only wash and boil my aerobika once a week. Use a big pot so parts dont touch side except in the “roll”.
Take apart pieces - wash-boul 5 minutes- dry well on a paper towel.

I do the same, except I place a round silicon hot pad in the bottom of the pot to protect the Aerobika and the mouthpieces of my InnoSpire Go nebulizer.

I have never boiled mine. Per my instructions (NJH) I just use “only” Seventh Generation dish soap…soak in hot or warm water…as long as I allow…then air dry on dish rack. When traveling, I use alcohol spray or peroxide spray on all separated parts, let sit few minutes, then rinse & air dry.
This is just my routine…but important note “I do NOT produce any (at all) sputum…and all my submissions for cultures (of saliva) @ NJH come back negative (what a surprise)”. I do huff cough and hear wheezing and rattling, but useless to bring anything up, and they do see the nodules and inflammation on scans.; however, for the purposes of Aerobika cleaning…that is my routine and seems to be working.

Stay healthy.

Many thanks Sue. What a great idea to place a silicone hot pad at the bottom.
I have been thinking about to buy a second Aerobika in case it is broke. Since I only started using Aerobika for a couple of months, and I have no idea how long it will last. Any idea about this?
Thanks again and take care.

Congratulations Regina for the negative test results. You must be thrilled to have this wonderful new. I am happy for you. I do occasionally use alcohol to wipe it. It is great to know your routine works.
Many thanks again and take care!

I put my Aerobika parts in the Bololo baby bottle sterilizer and it works great.

I soak my Aerobika in warm or hot water with Seventh Generation dish soap after each use. I did not know NJH recommended Seventh Generation but that is what I "felt" would be best. I rinse well and even do a final rinse using water from the Lifestraw pitcher. Then shake out any water and dry on paper towels. Then once a week on Sunday, after the usual dish soap soak and rinse, I ALSO soak in alcohol for 5 minutes and rinse. I do the same with my sprint nebulizer cups except I do the alcohol after three treatments. I have two sets of Aerobika and Sprint cups. One for morning and one for evening treatments. This way I can make sure they are perfectly dry before use.

I follow the instructions that came with the Aerobika- I clean after each use by soaking for 15 min. in water and liquid dish detergent. I disinfect once a week by soaking in hydrogen peroxide 3% for 30 min. and then rinse. They give a several choices for disinfection- boiling, microwave steam bag, soak in alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. They also suggest soaking in vinegar monthly to remove minerals from tap water that can result in scale build-up.
