Concerned about the cost of Prolia: How do you make it affordable?

I have a Medicare Advantage plan. Last year it was $100 copay for the first shot, then $350 for the second. This year will be $400 each.

The Patient Advocacy Foundation gives grants of about $1,500 a year. Osteoporosis is one of the qualifying diseases. The fund is closed right now, so you have to keep checking for when it opens. You can also look around the website and see if there's a waiting list you can get on.

Hello @jagilles, Welcome to Connect. I can't imagine how difficult it is for you and others having to pay such a large amount for the out of pocket cost for Prolia. You mentioned calling the company. Where do you go to get Prolia injection. Looking for a place that is affordable.
When I went to Peoria OSF Ifusion center where my doctor sent me it was $9000.00!!
My insurance did not cover all of this and I can not afford this.
Where it is more affordable?

The Pan Foundation Osteoporosis Fund is closed right now, but you can sign up for the wait list here, and they'll email when it opens, and then you can apply:

Another thing I did was to get a credit card, which has no interest for the first year and a half, allows you spread out the payment over 6 months, and gives you 3% back on medical and drugstore expenses. I use it only for my medical, prescriptions, drugstore OTC expenses.

Thanks for all comments. I am not Medicare age yet. The amount I got from the company fund was an allowed amount for the year. Even after insurance and that refund I owed over 1000!
Ridiculous for a shot you are to take 2 x a year!
