Me too and it causes panic attacks. It's horrible.
Hello, this is a very common symptom (very common) of gastroesophageal reflux... if you went to doctors, they examined your throat and nothing was found, you may suspect gastroesophageal reflux... it happens for several reasons, and the most Common ones are: liquid eating, lying down/exercising/skipping after meals, excessive intake of spicy foods, and even stress. It would be very interesting that you check with the doctors about examining your esophagus, or trying to take proton pump inhibitor drugs, such as omeprazole.
I also have gastroesophageal and was diagnosed by ENT in Hawaii. It is annoying and I have not found that any of the proton inhibitors like omeprazole have helped at all. I have even been put on a double strength dose for over 6 months. Nothing works. I don't like taking them either because of the long term side effects. I am about to try domperidone which is what someone else on the Mayo site has recommended. Failing that, there are some surgery options which I am going to look into further. I have had this problem for years and it has eventually affected my hearing. I hope you have some good luck.
I am following on from yesterday because anyone with acid reflux can benefit from reading the book Dropping Acid, The reflux diet, Cookbook and Cure. Written by Jamie Kaufman M.D. and Jordan Stern M.D.
This book was recommended by my ENT Dr and my Gastro Enterologist.
I hope it helps. I bought my copy on Amazon, 2nd hand but I'm sure it was new.
I agree wholeheartedly with the suggestion of reading and implementing Dr. Kaufman’s advice in her/his book in response to the treatment of “Silent Reflux”. The suggestions for diet are very practical and it beats taking any medication. It very soon becomes a a way of long term good eating habits and with a bit of discipline your symptoms will “disappear”.
It is definitely worth the effort! Just try it!
This book is good also!
