Has anyone had a tight band feeling after total knee replacement?
I am 8 weeks post TKR and have had this very tight band around my knee since week one. My Dr at 6 wks says it is normal and will go away. Has anyone else had this and did it go away and when?

I put two longer pieces around knee cap and one shorter piece across the bottom of the knee cap. Two therapists showed me but you can check out YouTube I think. The package of tape also gives instructions. I use RockTape brand.
This is how my therapist taught me to tape my knee replacement when needed only did a few times does help. It’s rock tape which is brand my therapist uses.
Very interesting dmc, thanks. Never heard of rock tape. I must say it looks like it would come loose with movement.
Actually no and it is waterproof you can shower and swim with it usually stays on for me 5 days sometimes more
Rocktape.com if you get it I get blue seems to stick longer, precut, and waterproof
Also use on my reverse total shoulder 3 years post op cause my muscles that are doing job for the missing muscles gets a little angry sometimes so I do that and get dry needling done once a month shoulder. My total knee is awesome Year half post op just keep all my exercises going. Best of luck
Why did you apply the tape? Were you having pain behind the knee or the knee itself?
It does not come loose. Knee must be at 90 degree angle when applying. Do not stretch as it will stretch a bit on own. I wear 3 days in a row, off 2 days to let skin breathe. When off use cbd cream or sleeve.
Pain is primarily on outside of kneecap but will spread to behind, top and other side of kneecap. I am 16 months out and sick of this pain. Do not want anymore surgery as had gi issues that are still with me from pain killers and recovery is so painful. Waiting for second opinion which is a five month wait
It helped with the pain from TKR surgery. Also I had a specific area left of kneecap that was giving me issues so my therapist had me take a rolling pin and roll it up and down that area was very painful at first but low and behold pain disappeared I am fortunate my knee replacement is awesome it was worth not sleeping for 4 months because of pain but replacement is hard and it required a lot of time and effort on me to do what was required of me. I still do exercises to keep it well. Had to temporarily suspend all activity for a cmc surgery I just had but after 2 weeks couple weeks have begun knee exercises again. Looking forward to getting back to water aerobics one incision is healed
Good luck to all with replacements once the surgeon as done their job and X-rays continue to show things are good a great physical therapist is your lifeline
It’s very hard work on our part but well worth it. Good luck to all
Met someone who had TKR and developed bakers cyst had pain therapist gave her specific exercises and it improved tremendously she said with no pain anymore
I would be interested in knowing what the exercises were that the woman with the baker’s cyst was given to do by her therapist
I used tape also very helpful …. The picture I showed I was taped for swelling was like 2 months ago …..there are many ways to tape …. But yes very helpful …
