Have you had duodenal switch surgery? Recommendations?
I am planning on duodenal switch surgery in June. Anybody have this procedure? Any recommendations for the best tasting protein shakes? What side effects have you experienced? Thank you for your input!

Premier protein shakes were best for me. High protein
So, they taste pretty good? How many do you drink a day?
Three a day. Through a banana or strawberries in it and mix it in a blender. Fruit is best frozen
I had this procedure 20 years ago and it was and still is the best choice of surgery for me. (I am still holding off a 200lb. weight loss). What I remember being as weird experiences was immediately after surgery my taste buds changed. I had loved hot sauces and no longer liked them. (This lasted about a year). Also my stomach "talked". A lot! Another thing was that whenever I was full, my nose would run 😂
Still does! As for protein "shakes" if you can't tolerate the milky ones, there are products out there that are high protein items such as soups, fruit drinks, hot cocoa, puddings, etc. At the beginning you'll need to keep well hydrated which is hard, so I'd try the different drinks you can buy. My surgeon kept saying sip, sip, sip! I'm happy to help with any purge questions you might have.
Anyone have the modified duodenal switch? If so how did it work out?
I had Modified duodenal switch in Rochester Mn December 1 2024
Starting weight 510, Lost 130 before surgery. I am currently down a total of 220 lb. I was wondering if there are others that have has some complications? Like changes in eyes sight? etc.

Great weight loss. With surgery, your absorption of vitamins changes and some vitamins could effect your vision, especially Vitamin A.
Have you asked your care team about?
No I have not talked to them about it yet. Plan to in the future.
I am 27 years out from this miracle surgery. I have had no problems at all. Went in at 267 lbs. I maintain 125 to 130lbs now with no effort at all.
Hi, @netter9064 - when will you be having the duodenal switch surgery? How are you feeling about it?
