Hi Helen, I feel better not taking chemo. This is my 2nd go around with OC (2011 and 2021) and that has helped me be my own health care advocate and go to my sources NOCC for updated treatment guidelines and Clearity for further reports, care, science and support.

They actually wanted me to restart chemo because of a lymph node that showed increased size and uptake. I am going to have a consult with Radiation Oncologist on 12/28 to see what he can offer for treatment; if any.

I have put quality of life over quantity of life and this has back up my choice for those of my friends that are from the medical field. I want to enjoy the life I have and travel, etc.

I just sent a message to my medical oncologist to see if I need to see her or have labs to check and see if Lovenox is working. I am sure I will hear back next week.

Much gratitude

@azmn Hi Denise, You have been through so much over the past 10+ years that you know best on what chemotherapy does to your body and your quality of life. I have not had chemotherapy but I did have radiation therapy a year ago. So far there is no evidence of disease for which I am very grateful. I hope the radiation oncologist takes the time to have a good discussion with you on whether or not that's a treatment for you to pursue so you can make your decision.

A week before I found that my mother-in-law had metastatic cancer (she was 90-years-old and very active up to that point) we talked about quality of life. She told me and I agreed that we wanted the life we preferred which included activities we enjoyed over extending our lives with treatments that made us sicker. She already knew at that point about the cancer. She had a gorgeous garden that she worked on up until about a month before she died. I have a few of her garden ornaments in my garden and these remind me of just what you wrote. Enjoy your life that you have while exploring options available that will allow you to do just that.

You are an inspiration, Denise.
