Evusheld Update

If you want to find out about cardiac events from Evusheld . Google "Evusheld fact sheet from Astrazenica". I also didnt take Evusheld because it states serious cardiac events have happened including heart attack. (During trials) but I have serious cardiac concerns!
Everyone has to consult their own Drs and make their own decisions . Please dont take my post as Gospel --Do your own research!

Thank you, Bosco, for the reminder that we do need to consult with our own doctor who has the understanding of our individual medical history. it is easy to be overwhelmed when reading all of the fine print. The Fact Sheet that you refer contains good information. I used it to explain the Evusheld to my PCP's nurse recently.

12/21/22 EVUSHELD UPDATE
Yesterday I saw my hematologist. There are ten hematologist/oncologists in his office. He informed me “we’re not using Evusheld anymore. It doesn’t work.” Today I phoned the Cedars/Sinai Hospital Injection center. The lady on the phone replied to my questioning that Evusheld is still being used, but much less than it was six months ago.

My nephrologist told me he is not suggesting Evusheld or the monoclonal antibodies, as they do not work. And my transplant center says I can not take any of the Covid treatments either, due to the meds I take. I pray I stay healthy but I do have to isolate quite a bit especially at these holidays. I am 2 months post transplant. BB

No, the weather was not the reason - Louisville is just now getting hit by Storm Elliot. I would have enough time to travel home long before that.

The infusion center called last week and said that I needed to go to a free standing infusion center to get the insurance to cover it. I was not willing to begin a new search again because I have run into so many 'roadblocks' locally. I contacted my Mayo Transplant Nurse via patient portal, and she responded that if I ever come through Rochester MN area, they would schedule an appointment for me. Due to distance, that is not likely to happen, but I will plan to get it, or whatever is approved when I am there in May for my annual appointment.

Today, I spoke with a friend who had a kidney transplant a year ago and he got his 2nd dose of Evusheld last week. When his transplant team called him to come get it, he did.

@rosemarya so sorry you weren’t able to get the Evushield locally. I was at Mayo last week and able to get the Evushield there, so I didn’t have to deal with local referrals. I know how frustrating it can be. I hope you have a good holiday.
