The Chat Room: A place to talk about this and that

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Oct 3, 2020

Have you discovered mutual likes or common points of interest with other members while talking about the medical stuff? Sometimes these discoveries take us off topic.

Welcome to The Chat Room.
This is a place to talk about this and that over the backyard fence so to speak. To invite a fellow member or members to the chat room, simply mention their @username. They will get an email to join the conversation here.

Who will you invite to chat?

Can anyone tell me does my lung disease feel like I have a chest cold? I cough no phlegm, also if I laugh or get nervous my chest tightens up, I got some breathing exercises from my sister the nurse and am doing them

@jimis65 I am linking you to a discussion in the Lung Health Support Group. It may give you some insight about your tight chest and congested feelings. While I do not have any lung issues, I hope that you might find some information here. The discussion started over 2 years ago, and the posts are in chronological order from then. If you want to see posts from newest first, choose the dropdown carrot next to page number, and switch it.

Anyone know how long apricot trees take to mature?
I love them but figure I’ll be dead before they start producing.

My therapist has suggested Narrative Therapy for me. Any thoughts?

Do you mean 'rescripting'?

REPLY

I mean what I wrote. I do not even know what rescripting means. So far I have done two exercises. These exercises consist of answering the questions posed to me by my therapist. There will be more. She indicated that she sees some improvement in me. Talking on the phone with my neighbor, she said the same thing. Can't see it on myself.

@gingerw
Hope I'm around longer. I wasn't planning to go to the big candy factory in the sky that soon but not my choice.
Thanks for the information.

I can see both sides of the discussion. Yes, my vision is that talented. I personally look for the humor & lighthearted things people share. That on or off topic just might be the thing that helps me get thru a rough spot. SQUIRREL! Sorry. I caught that 'disability' from my service pup who continues to prove that the shortest distance from where I was sitting, back to the truck is NOT a straight line. But hey, I was able to get some extra walking in which helps my breathing, knees, hips, muscles, spine, heart...there's another squirrel.
My point is, squirrels happen. Cute fluff tails that they are, can be annoying for some, yet a moment's lifeline for others. It's called Grace.
If I've learned anything from being trained by my pup, it's to enjoy the moment no matter how circuitous the trail back to the truck. In fact, it's fun to see just how far off & on the map she takes us. I collect small black smooth stones myself. They are calming to rub or bring back the memory of where I found it. Walk on Sisyphus!
Love to all us squirrels 💜🐕‍🦺

Is that carrot juice you're holding? If so, how do you make it less strong tasting? I like it, but whoa. Thank you for the info

I am concerned about my possible exposure to mesothelioma. I am 76. Will I outlive any possible effects of diseases connected to asbestos.
