Prolia and Hair Loss

Anyone experience hair loss with Prolia? I would also like to hear about those on Prolia with no issues?

I had significant hair loss. I feel like I am almost bald now. I also had joint and bone pain and now have jaw pain. That never happened when I was on Fosamax. I feel like I am caught between a rock and a hard place with my bone problems.

Please contact your doctor immediately if you haven't as jaw pain could be an early sign of osteonecrosis, i.e., dead bone of the jaw. For which there is no cure or treatment. Prolia is a drug that shares that not-common side effect. [I personally think that Prolia shouldn't even be sold here because the side effects are so nasty. And it's only been around for 10 years so there are no studies of long-term, yet alone permanently-damaging, consequences of using it.]

There are alternatives though, as I'm sure you know, none of them are perfect. It's just that some have lesser risks or risks that can be monitored for and avoided at first sign of any issues.

What do you feel has less risks? I’m considering Forteo but have low BP and hear it can cause hypotension on rising, among other things.

Has anyone stopped using Prolia? I've heard it causes fractures--is that true and how often? I also have hair loss, even though my doctor said this was not a side effect.

Do you feel at risk for fractures?

Hello, my mother is unfortunately experiencing the exact same problem. Did your hair loss ever grow back in?

I was put on Prolia after 2 spontaneous vertebrae and 1 rib fracture. Have been on Prolia for 3 years. I am beginning to have hair loss. I am thankful that I have had no further fractues.

I have only had two shots this past year and so far, so good. But I have experienced hair loss in the past due to other treatments as well as a significant family loss. I found a great shampoo that really helped. It's called Pure Biology and I get it through Amazon. It's amazed my hair dresser.
Also, my dentist (whose wife is also on Prolia) has had me switch to an enamel strengthening tooth paste. Prolia can rarely cause significant damage to your teeth and jaw so it's important that your dentist follows you closely.
