Anal fissure: What helps it heal?

Have you seen a colorectal doctor? They may have more expertise for fissures than a GI doctor. I had horrible pain with every bowl movement as well, I got a botox shot and that helped. Also the sitz baths and if you are on chemo, get off Avastain. That is what ultimately solved it for me.

Thanks for recommending a colorectal dr - but all I found were "colorectal surgeons." The thing is that I'm doing everything I can to avoid surgery including botox. With my history I think iI should avoid anything like that. I'll try calling to find out what they have to offer that isn't invasive. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised?
(not on chemo)

Hi again! At first I was afraid of a colorectal surgeon thinking they'd only offer surgery - but - Thanks to your advice I checked around and found a colorectal surgeon who definitely can treat fissures in ways that avoid surgery if I wish. And I have an appointment TOMORROW!!!
Really really thanks!
