Stage 3a kidney disease: looking for info
I just learned today I have stage3a kidney disease. All my doctor told me was that my kidneys showed dehydration. I am clueless and I remembered I used to come here often. So right now I am just looking for basic info. Thank you. I recall this being a very helpful forum.

Thank you, Vicki. I found a lot of support and learned a lot from the group here. I am being monitored with blood and urine tests and will see if there will be any improvement going forward but no guarantee, according to my doctor. Not enough data with covid cause of kidney problem.
Can my eGFR improve with subsequent blood tests?
My eGFR. Number was 38 and I decided that I needed to do something to help bring my no up.and my last blood test was 53
This happened because I started walking, exercising and watched what I was eating.
@pcjaparis Typically, we want to look at trends in our blood tests, rather than a specific date we get tested. There are a couple of reasons for that. Our level of hydration can make a difference in the readings, as can our general health that day, and a difference in the machines doing the analysis.
As you see in the posts here, things can change for us on a wek-by-week basis. Some dsys we feel great, other days, not so much. Keeping adequate hydration, eating healthily [sometimes a challenge this time of year, right!?], moderate exercise, reducing our stress levels as much as possible, all play into our general health, let alone our kidney health. And if we have other health issues, they need to be addressed also. It's a balancing act.
@poon I had an email this morning from DaVita, one of the main players in kidney health websites. They were speaking about kidney care classes, so here is the link they had. You may find that getting some education from them will go a long way in answering some of your questions and concerns. And, remember, I am here is you have anything to ask.

Good for you - this inspires me to move more myself!
I hope so, but no doctor knows for sure because not enough data
My doctor did not even tell me I had ckd for 18 years. If I had moved to NC, I would never have known. Even here they offer no help. Worried more about High Blood count.
I meant red blood count, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit, possible Polycythemia Vera. Which would be Leukemia.
@collegeprof ~ As a stage 3a myself, I'm still unclear as to how many glasses of water each day is enough - without overtaxing my kidneys to where they may be further damaged. Have any of your medical team mentioned a satisfactory daily total? Thanks!
I fluctuate between 3A and 3B, and drink a total of 60-64 ounces of water daily. I add lemon to add taste. It does no good, however, to gulp down, say, 20 ounces in one hour to meet your goal. Just drink moderately throughout the day. Your nephrologist can also answer what is best for you.
