Transplant: Do you have serious side effects after COVID vaccinations?
I plan to take the second dose for Pfizer. I took the first dose in Feb. got infected in July and got Bebtelovimab infusion to deal with it. What vaccinations have you been taken? My family doctor suggested me to take Bivalent booster. Today I heard a friend who took heart transplant had serious vomiting for 1 month after the first dose and got blood cancer after the second dose. I was sick for 2 weeks after the first dose. I'm worrying about it now.

Hi @echo2022 😊
I am a two year post kidney transplant patient. I had a couple of Pfizer and Moderna covid vaccines/boosters in an attempt to get some covid antibodies. I had no reaction at all to the multiple vaccines, including no antibodies developed. (I take Cellcept and Tacronlimis for my immune suppression).
I see you were sick for two weeks after taking the vaccine. What symptoms did you have? Do you have an autoimmune disease? I have read that some autoimmune patients have experienced reactions to the vaccine in rare occasions.
Which organ did you have transplanted and what are your current immune suppression meds? The most prevalent "reaction" to the covid vaccine for immune suppressed transplant patients is no reaction....no antibodies or a very low number of antibodies are created.
It's difficult to get a robust successful immune response to a vaccine when a patient is immune suppressed.
My wife has nerve problems with her legs after double vax
Hi @bosco17 😊
Great to hear from you!
I see your wife had nerve problems in her legs as a reaction after the covid vaccine. That's what my girlfriend experienced too. She has a lifetime autoimmune disease. She told me that she will not be getting the booster due to the adverse reaction. Does your wife also have any chronic problems or take any meds that may have contributed?
Has her legs started to feel a little better as time passes and the vaccine is losing its potency in her system?
I am hoping this adverse reaction is getting better for her!
I feel fortunate. I am a 7,5 month out liver transplant and have only been taking Moderna. Besides the 2 initial shots I have had 3 boosters and 2 rounds of Evusheld. I have had no serious side effects, just arm ache and mild headache for 1st 24 hours. Each of us has adifferent sensitivity to meds. Among my friends we have found Moderna the easier one for side effects. I rely on communicating theough my TP cootdinator to mention any concerns, ask questions and to update re meds. I hope you find a way to continue orotecting yourself. Barbara
I am a 15-year post liver transplant patient and I take Tacrolimus. I took one dose of Pfizer vaccine and have had a fever for a week and felt fatigue for another week. After the first dose, I tested my antibodies against the COVID-19, but I didn't know how strong the antibodies were. My test couldn't show it.
How long has your wife suffered the reaction?
