I had a thumping sound in my left ear for 2 years. It was sporadic, not my heart beat. I read where low iron could be the cause, but iron supplements didn’t help. It wasn’t until I started taking B12 that the thumping finally went away.

3 ReactionsB12--Thank you for your response. I am seeing an audiologist this Thursday and will mention B12.
I also have that. Whenever I move about the tinnitus is louder. Makes it hard to get any exercise.
Willows--my thumping also gets louder when Im active. How long have you had the thumping in your ear? Also, has it settled down at all since it originally began?
Gary, the thumping began a few years ago. It eventually morphed into an even noise with a lot less thumping. It took about a year for the thumping to diminish in this way then one day it was just gone but replaced by a low steady rumbling that also gets worse when I move about. I have other sounds as well. They are mostly in my head but I hear them in my ears. Hope yours just goes away but it does seam to take patience.
Suffering from the same thumping sound as you described, especially when I am about to go to sleep or sleeping, and sometimes just as I wake up. Usually, my ears feel full and clogged when it happens. I wish someone had some concrete answers.

1 ReactionYou can get stents to relieve the issue. Just search for Athos Patsalides and pulsatile tinnitus.
