Collagen for osteoporosis?

Posted by cpb @cpb, Jul 26, 2021

My friend's medical doctor has her take collagen for her bones. I decided to try it and wondered if anyone knows more than I do about this.

Are people taking collagen with meds or instead of meds. And for those of you who are taking it without meds, how bad are your DEXA scores?

good to get this kind of feedback. I've also been taking the 5 types of collagen each am with my coffee...adding this into all the aleloritive changes I'm making. One has to do their own homework here..as there are a lot of these products out there..and some are pure hype. I've been doing the collagen for about 4 months now and I can see a difference in the skin on my hands..smoother. ...as well as the skin on my hands in general. Not looking for miracles here...just wanting to aid in what I'm lacking to be a better 'me' at 76 1/2....
Anyone else taking collagen now?....or whatever you're doing that you feel is important...please share. Thanks you.....hugs.....

I have osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, recently broke my dominate wrist and required plates and pins. My osteo surgeon prescibed 1000 ml /day vitC along with the collagen I take to increase collagen to support my bones in healing. My hair and nails are benefitting.

Hello jalo~ Hope you're having a good day. Sorry about your broken wrist..I know you will heal faster because of the supplements you're taking. How did you break your wrist? I also have osteoporosis and osteoarthritis in my knees. I have compression fractures in my thoracic region and a bulging L-5....swell, eh?!
But..we go on..I bet your non-dominant hand is figuring it all out. Stay out of pain if you can..by any means..legal...
I'm using red light therapy...far infrared....I use the 'belt' around my mid back, lower back and knees...along with hot wraps from the micro. I toke a bit of Indica with a range of THC of at least 27%....and use CBD full spectrum tincture when nothing else works to relieve the pain. I'm 78 and very healthy...except for the news flash my bones seems to have missed to carry on....so now I'm playing catch up. Yes...I feel the added collagen helps! I've been doing "Codeage" for months and feel progressively better in all my other joints, skin, nails and hair.
I also take turmeric with other combo's. I wish you well!

Kindly share info on the red light therapy. What are you using and where did you buy it?

Good morning sheilad1
I found LifePro..with their lifetime warranty to be most appealing. Their products seem to be made with quality and lasting power. I see that "TommyJohns" has just leaped into this field as well. You have to do your homework on this..like all things...Look for reviews as well as the kind of 'light energy' the device is using. I have the face mask and yes..my skin has improved...not looking for miracles here at 78...but I see a slight difference in the quality of my skin. I also have the 'belt'..which has many different light combos. I use this on my mid back..then lower it around my hips for another 20 minute treatment and then I wrap it around my knees. I also have their "waver" vibration plate. I use that at the lowest setting...for my osteoporosis. The far infrared light therapy is what you're looking for...not just 'lights'.....good luck! This modality is being used in many healing centers now....

Hi, can you enlighten us about how collagen improves hair and nails? Thicker, stronger, etc.? What differences do you notice in the living skin?

REPLY

The collagen can increase hair and nail strength and bone density. I noticethe improvement in my nails and my skin isn't as saggy in the arms, neck and jawline.

What collagen product did your doctor recommend?

REPLY

My doctor did not recommend collagen products but 1000 ml Vit C to help build collagen. I was previously taking powdered collagen for skin and nails after parathyroid surgery.
