Has anyone tried anti-depressant medication for neuropathic pain?
I'm wondering how many people in this community with neuropathic pain have been prescribed some form of an anti-depressant along with or without Gabapentin to help ease the pain and if anyone has found this protocol helpful?

In response to your question regarding an adjustment period I would say that no, I had been on amitriptyline for awhile and when the Pregabalin was added everything was fine right away.
Sorry, I just saw this. Currently there is increasing use of stem cells for many problems. There are many types and I am currently attempting to find the recommended one available for my daughter with a painful cervical disc. One consultant says that the company, DiscGenics, is ahead in the intradiscal stem cell research at present. Google it.
Hi, yes, I am taking 30 mgs of duloxitine (Cymbalta) along with my first dose of gabapentin 100 mg. I take a second gabapentin about an hour before bedtime. It helps so much it surprised me. My dentist told me about it. Sorry if I answered this before.
Me too......I am taking 120 mg of Duloxetine (Cymbalta) in the morning and 600 mg of Gabapentin at bedtime. It is working for me, especially with the addition of a dropper of a medical cannabis 2:1 (CBD/THC right before I turn ff the light. Makes for a very nice sleep. If there isn't a perfect solution, then I will stick with this one.

Looking for experience with tricyclic antidepession drugs to treat PN? Particularly Nortriptyline.

Has your doctor suggested trying Nortriptyline to see if it helps with your PN?
Greetings @alfer. As @johnbishop mentioned, nortryptyline was the first medication my neurologist prescribed in hope that I would be able to sleep at night. Pain and fear were keeping me awake. It was very helpful and I continued taking it for a couple of years until I found how helpful medical cannabis could also be. To this day, my nighttime medication is a 2:1 CBD/THC tincture. My original dosage has been increased as the SFN (small fiber neuropathy) symptoms increased.
The mornings were a problem for me also. As the pain ranked up in the morning I was quite frustrated by noon. So.....we tried Duloxetine for anxiety and I still take it to this day, having increased the dosage from 30 mg to 120 mg. It helps the pain by controlling the anxiety.
Good luck with your medication decisions. Just don't make any changes without discussing them first with your doctor.
What else are you using to control the effects of neuropathy?
May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.

Thanks for all your experiences. I am not on any meds yet have only doing natural remedies such as multivitamins with ALA and essential oils. They seem to help but find the PN is getting stronger in my feet. I also not sure what kind of doctor to go to. A Neurologist or or a pain management spine doctor ? Any suggestions?
Has anyone had Percutaneous Ultrasound-guided needle-knife surgery for bulging lumbar disc?
I've been taking Cymbalta for 12 years 60 mg every morning. this works for me. ,800 mg Gabapentin every night
