The Chat Room: A place to talk about this and that

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Oct 3, 2020

Have you discovered mutual likes or common points of interest with other members while talking about the medical stuff? Sometimes these discoveries take us off topic.

Welcome to The Chat Room.
This is a place to talk about this and that over the backyard fence so to speak. To invite a fellow member or members to the chat room, simply mention their @username. They will get an email to join the conversation here.

Who will you invite to chat?

Hi Ginger, until I think, 2 days ago, I didn't know there was a Chat Room group. Or is it a discussion in a group? I am obviously confused. So embarrassing! Is it new? I often use my cell phone here and per a similar discussion quite a few months ago, I was sharing this problem (not seeing what group an email message is in all the time. @jesfactsmon aka Hank's help, I think the take away was my phone doesn't show what a computer does. Thx for your patience with my question about the Chat Room. Take care, Sunnyflower

Sunnyflower, yes - I have the same issue when I use my phone - we don't see everything. I found that if I'm confused as to where I'm reading, I scroll to the top of the message thread on my phone and it shows the name of the discussion.

Hi Sue, yes, I addressed this. I do NOT see the name of the discussion at the top of the message all the time on my phone. Makes no sense, but true. Thanks so much for trying to help. I appreciate that. Warmest wishes, Sunnyflower

@sunnyflower A post will go to the group and discussion we are on. There is not a "main bulletin board" so to speak. That is why this discussion was created, to allow people whose thoughts don't really fit a specific group or discussion, to post here. As you have seen, we cover a wide variety of subjects here in the Chat Room/over-the-back-fence conversations.

Does this help at all?

Hi Ginger, I know that when I reply, my reply will stay in the group/discussion that the message I'm replying to is in. I understand why that discussion was created and that there will be a lot of different subjects in the Chat Room. Is the Chat Room it's own group or a discussion in a group. If a discussion in a group, which group is it in? Clearly I'm having brain problems. Ug! Take care, Sunny

Hi @sunnyflower,
You are correct that on a mobile device, it is not possible to see the associated group name unless you took note of that in the email notification. It is a current fault of the web design that will be corrected in the near future in 2021.

I'm having my heart monitored for 30 days. An electrode on my chest and I also have what looks like a cell phone which is the transmitter.
The problem is I lost the transmitter I went around different places today looked in parking lot went to lost and founds but it was nowhere to be found.
So I have to pay $300 to replace it.
Then I went looking all over my house for my cell phone it was nowhere to be found I mean absolutely nowhere. Well come to find out I was holding it in my hand talking on it. I asked the lady I was talking to if she would come and visit me in the home. She said she would if I could remember which one I was in.

Thanx for the description of a galley kitchen.
My kitchen you need a skate board to get from island to island. I do have plenty of counter top, but it also takes hours to clean.
My home is older also, with a lot of square footage, I wonder how I would do in a smaller home, as I’m considering downsizeing.
I’ve been getting rid of so much stuff.
It seems like all I do is clean. How about you?

@funcountess, Just catching up on posts and laughing at your skateboard reply! I have friends with kitchens like yours so they probably don't need as many walks as I to stay fit. vbg

I, too, am considering a move to a smaller home at some point and was very disappointed a few days ago that the Council for the Blind donation center was closed. Will just let the donate bags "travel" in car back until it gets too full.

One of the discoveries of this Covid year has been how much additional time I am spending trying out new recipes and the kitchen clean-up duty required! While I am happy that many/most recipes provide leftovers to be frozen for "another day", the clean-up time is truly a drag!

So Yes! that, coupled with living in a very windy, dusty area (even with those highly advertised dust reduction window installs!), I seem to be in perpetual cleaning mode. Dreaming of that time when in restaurant dining, always a favorite pastime with others, can be resumed!!

I’m not sure if it was you or not but somebody wrote a post somewhere about going to a dietitian and the dietitian added some foods to add calories. I have a suggestion and a tasty one at that.
Go to the Hershey website and order a 5 pound chocolate bar. It has 11,500 delicious calories.
If you really need to get bulked up you can go to the Amazon website and they have a 10 pound chocolate bar.
This post made me hungry, I’m off to get some candy and cookies now.
Bon appétit!!!
Jake

@jakedduck1,Yep, Leonard! 'Twas me who mentioned the dietitian but I Much prefer your remedy!!! You'll understand that in ordering some munchables to add X-mas cheer for family, the catalog advertised that if purchase exceeded a certain amount, the purchaser would be sent a choice of either free butter toffee or cheese. Welllll, that was a no brainer...one can buy cheese anytime!!! Two days after arrival only the memory of that Wisconsin Cheeseman's toffee remains!! Merry days ahead for us all!!!!

Hello, John. I am new to Connect. This is my very first attempt at using this chat room and I would like to ask you: How do I chat with people who have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? I also would appreciate chatting with someone who has taken ketamine treatment because of major depression. I would like to know about the risks related to ketamine. I struggle a lot with both CFS and depression. Thank you so much.
All my best,
Christiania
