Charlie Horses and Cramping: What helps?

Hello! I have been experiencing tremendously painful Charlie Horses / cramps in my feet, legs and even abdomen if I bend over. I don’t even know what doctor to go to for this issue, as I have seen so many specialists for other long Covid and have just heard the typical “drink more water and eat bananas type advice.” I just woke up screaming with one in my calf and woke up my entire family. Any advice of what type of doctor to go to or how else to help would be greatly appreciated!

I’m having the same issue with leg cramping in both legs from my ankles all the way up to my thighs. This wakes me up while sleeping…I too am unsure what type of DR to see…I ‘assume’ it’s inflammation from Covid but who knows! Anyone with similar complaints? Suggestions?

I’m having the same issue with leg cramping in both legs from my ankles all the way up to my thighs. This wakes me up while sleeping…I too am unsure what type of DR to see…I ‘assume’ it’s inflammation from Covid but who knows! Anyone with similar complaints? Suggestions?

Yes I’ve had it too! Feet and calves. Magnesium supplement can assist particularly for leg and foot spasms. Stretching and lymph massage and compression perhaps may be helpful?? Hugs!

Oh, I am so glad that I am not the only one (not that I wish anyone any of these awful symptoms in the first place)! I am going to ask my GP what type of doctor to go to and then add that to my list of other doctors for every thing else going wrong with Long Covid. Have a wonderful day!

Here in DFW area, a hospital group has created their own Covid Recovery Clinic. Currently, there’s a 3-month wait to get in! Frustrating…Gonna be a big biz for many Providers & more clinics are needed!

Have your iron and magnesium and vitamin d checked! Those can all cause muscle cramping and spasms. Covid can affect all your levels! I’m a Covid survivor/long hauler! In February of 2021 I was hospitalized for 51/2 months, on a ventilator for 2 months and had a tracheotomy! Best wishes in your search to find yourself again! Melanie

i got these same cramps after covid. it turned out i was short on potasium from all the lasix i had in the hospital. once i started taking potassium supplements they went away

have your levels checked. could be due to low levels of magnesium as well. its not the covid virus itself causing the problems but rather the aftermath of the treatment

I’ve had “Charlie horse” cramps in my jaw, neck, back of my head and like you ride where my liver is, it will hit me every now and then after using the toilet or bending over to my side. It’s murder, they’re nothing you can do when it hit.

I’ve had “Charlie horse” cramps in my jaw, neck, back of my head and like you ride where my liver is, it will hit me every now and then after using the toilet or bending over to my side. It’s murder, they’re nothing you can do when it hit.

Yes! Even when bending over I will get the in my abdomen. I have never had this feeling before and it is nearly impossible to describe to doctors.
