Yep. Big time.
I’m trying keto diet! Low carbs, low sugar! Hoping to help neuropathy
@jptartaglini1 and @txsongbird, Hi there you too. I just read your Gabapentin concerns and thought that I might share my experience with that medication. It was the first medication I was prescribed after my SFN diagnosis. The very first morning I was cloudy and confused. I called my neurologist right away and here is what he did. He told me to take Gabapentin at bedtime to relieve the tingling and pain in my hands and arms so that I could sleep. That worked and is still working after 10 years. With his knowledge and some help from a nurse friend, I learned about medical cannabis which is now my choice to control pain and discomfort symptoms during the day.
A pretty good solution so far.

@pacodennis I am fortunate to not have the side effects of Gabapentin that others have, not after 6 years anyway. But yes, I am reluctant to call it "withdrawal", but the pain when I forget or delay a dose of Gabapentin is definitely noticeable, and it improves again in about 1 hour after taking it. My internal PN pain can't be relieved by tylenol, as a hospital tried once when I was admitted for an unrelated procedure and they were "out" of Gabapentin (?). Those 2 days were unimaginable - not traditional withdrawals you read about in magazines, just the return of awful pain, which confirmed for me that Gabapentin worked to curb, but not cure, that symptom. That taught be to always carry extra pills with me in the event I'm caught off-guard again.
I was up to 2700 mg a day. ,it did nothing for my neuropathy except it made me extremely dizzy. I ended up falling and needed spinal fusion. I now take lyrica. Gained 25 lbs on it. It helps somewhat. Just started taking MSM for it.
Has anyone tried the advertised product “Nervogen” for peripheral neuropathy? I know it’s a long shot but my feet are absolutely burning up tonight. I would appreciate any comments. Bcool123
I take it' have for 3 years, does not help me. there is a clinic here that advertises on TV electro theropathy . anybody tried it ?
To date I've had good success with Gabapentin. It's been 6 months, have it in feet only. Started with 300mgs, but increased to 600 after 4 months. Take it only at night when I actually experience the onset of Neuropathy. Works for me within an hour, let's me sleep through the night and no side effects that i've noticed. This did start after TKR, never had it before.

Lyrica can also causes balance issues, so be on your guard. Anticonvulsant medication’s are notorious for memory and balance issues.

It helped me for many years too, was taking 1200, when it stopped working I was given get this 36000 for a week, then dropped back down to 1200. I asked for more, I got it! Took over 5 years to wean off it. I take zero now. That’s the good bad and ugly of it. Lots of terms for weaning off you will hear, another word is torture.
