How do you handle travel after surgery

Posted by daria @daria, Oct 13, 2022

I’m a scheduled for surgery on November 7 for lung cancer. I’m either having a wedge resection or possibly a lobectomy. I’m told 2 days in hospital and 2 days at a nearby hotel. I was also told there won’t be an issue flying (I live in NY).

I had a lobectomy in 2020 close to home and it was an extremely painful recovery. I’m so afraid of being unable to come home after surgery. Does anyone have any suggestions?

@grandmasheri, you asked about the lung pillow. You can see a great picture of a lung pillow that @corgimenow posted of her husband post surgery here:

@corgimenow, can you explain how the pillow helps after surgery?

I’m pretty sure the pillow is a help for the coughing process. Also a comfort because it’s a sweet gift, gesture on part of the auxiliary and the hospital. My husband slept sitting up and held the pillow to be comfortable. A good visual reminder of the surgery and commitment to healing. ♥️
