Liver Rejection after 15 years
Anyone one have liver rejection after years of no problems? Currently going through this. It is very difficult with more medications and side effects. Just some questions like how long did it take to get back to your normal, how did you deal with side effects?
Thank

Hi @liver2007 😊
I am a two year post kidney transplant patient. Hopefully, a liver transplant patient will chime in. Was your rejection found during a protocol biopsy or were you experiencing symptoms of rejection? Did they raise the dosage on your current immune suppression meds or add a new medication to your regimen? What symptoms are you experiencing from the increase of immune suppression? It's my understanding that rejection can usually be resolved pretty quickly but I guess it depends on several criteria. What are your transplant docs saying about timeline?
Hi,
2years post LT. Would like to know what brought this on and we’re u having any symptoms, did u catch it b/c u are having regular labs.
I am sure this is scary I wish u the best and u r back on track w/your meds and back to where u we’re.💚
@liver2007,
This rejection episode must have been a shock for you to learn about, especially after 15 problem-free years. I am 13 years post transplant, and I know that the word rejection is not one that want to hear.
Here is a discussion that might contain some information.

Your message touches me deeply as I begin to wonder if or when this could happen to me. Did you have any signs or symptoms that led to the diagnosis of rejection? What kind of medications are you taking for the rejection, and what are the side effects that you are dealing with?

Hi,
It does me to, after 15 years I would think that things would be pretty safe and then this.
Thinking about u.💚
Liver2007 any updates on your rejection after 15 yrs. Hope ur doing well😊💚
Curious regarding symptoms of your rejection. I’m 6 years post liver transplant and am doing good. Do you know what caused the rejection?
Did you have any symptoms or was it found in your bloodwork?
everyone has to read the data of the post liver transplant . It mentioned how many year after Liver Transplant people can live, this information can help for anyone to understand causes of liver rejection. We have to be grateful for one day more to live every day with our new liver

Agree with u 100% but I think being a TP patient and hearing that after 15yrs. just scares u a little and you just want to know what happened and stay on top of things, especially if u know what happened for it to reject by someone on this blog than to read a bunch of data.
2yrsLTP I live each day to the fullest so very very grateful.

I heard it from my specialist in China. They said some patients would have liver rejection after years of no problems. They call it slow liver rejection and it's hard to get back. I think we must rely on doctors to deal with it. Hopefully we can get your good information soon.
