How does Mayo Jacksonville compare with Mayo MN

I potentially have interstitial lung fibrosis. We are working on a diagnosis locally in Florida. I have a Medicare advantage plan and am aware that Mayo does not take it. I have two questions: I plan to change plans to enable me to be covered at Mayo. What might you recommend. Also, how does the pulmonary care differ in Jacksonville from MN. I'm willing to go anywhere for the best care. Thanks so much!! Kristine

I am not an insurance expert but as far as I know Traditional Medicare with a Medigap policy that allows you to self-refer to any doctor/clinic accepting Medicare gives you choice. Also, since you live in Florida and are considering going out of State to Rochester, Minnesota, the Medigap policy should allow you to travel. Insurance choices are also based on residence so you can check the Medicare site to see which plans are available to you. Also look for your Part D drug plan with the Medicare tool. It is quite good. You give it all your drug information and it pulls up plans for you and gives you estimate of costs. There is an extraordinary difference in drug plan costs which I do not understand despite asking sales reps about it.
I am a patient of Mayo Rochester for lung cancer (I self-referred) and had no issues with my Traditional Medicare Part A, Part B insurance and Medigap plan. I never saw a bill.

Regarding Jacksonville vs Rochester, Mayo Clinic Rochester MN is the original and largest location. You can check the various doctors by location on the Mayo Clinic site...

Kristine, I am a patient at Mayo in Jacksonville and have nothing but positive things to say about my "team" there. I have cystic fibrosis with bronchiectasis, and the doctors and staff at Mayo have taken great care of me. I've never been to the clinic in Rochester, so I can't compare the two.
