Who's taken Myrbetriq for overactive bladder? Results?
I've seen a urologist today for urgency and frequency issues. He has prescribed Myrbetriq. When I came home I checked for possible interaction with current meds. It shows a "moderate" level of interaction with my Propafenone (heart rhythm) and Amitriptyline (sleep aid.) I've called the office but it will be tomorrow before they double check with him to clarify that it is OK for me to take Myrbetriq. Wondering if there are others who have been in this situation. Thanks.

I'm wondering, was Oxybutynin working the same or better than Myrbetriq? If so why not stay on Oxybutynin--especially if it is cheaper. Also wonder if it allows you only a minute or two delay in going to the bathroom, wouldn't our goal be more than that? I checked with my insurance and found that the Myrbetrig would be $50 a month. Am checking into Gemtesa but it is not covered at all. Can't imagine how much it would be. Just trying to make the right decision.
Good evening @fdixon63 ...... thanks for your posts and discussion with @rfherald. Very helpful regarding Myrbetriq. Just thought I would mention that my Primary took me off oxybutynin because recent research indicated that it contributed to dementia in seniors.
I am happy with Myrbetriq except for the $$$$$$.
Chris
I hadn't heard of Oxybutynin and dementia. That might explain some things. I'll look into it.
Glad you added your experience. Very helpful. I found out that Gemtesa is not covered by insurance at all. Can't imagine how much it will cost. Myrbetriq is $50 a month. Probable will go with the Myrbetriq and get the EKG Cardiologist recommended after starting on it. Sure don't want to have it mess with my heart. Be well.
Oxybutynin worked right away but it did not work as well. I only had a little more time between "urge" and "going," with Oxybutynin and I frequently couldn't hold it back. Myrbetriq allows more time to delay going, as there is no leakage, but it takes a while for it to take full effect. My costs for Myrbetriq through insurance is similar to yours, but at Costco the cost without insurance is $500 per month Oxybutynin is $12. Costco does not carry Gemtesa. Through my insurance company Myrbetriq and Gemtesa are similarly priced.
Thanks for the straight forward answers. There's truth to the old saying, "the devil is in the details." Sorry, couldn't resist. Take care and again, thanks. I'm starting the Myrbetriq tonight. Wish me luck.
Good luck. Be patient. Medicines work differently in different people. Good luck.
Yes. And more. There are quite a few articles with results linking OAB medications, not just Oxybutynin, and dementia. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32167223/
@fdixon63 I have heard a little about Gemtesa so I just googled it. I am not familiar with this website but this is what it says about cost:

I am about to get off of Tymlos, another very costly medication so I am not about to go into this one now. I didn't realize that Myrbetriq was as "reasonable" as $50 a month. I may ask my urogynecologist about it.

I don't know if the cost for Myrbetriq my insurance pays would be the same for everyone--not very likely. Guess I did not state it correctly in my post. Hope it works in your favor.
