Continued Post-Nasal Drip and Constant Mucus in Throat
I was sick the last week or January/first week of February. Home Test-negative, rapid PCR-negative. All COVID symptoms and known prolonged exposure to infected individuals make me believe it was COVID. Since then, I have had a tremendously hard time dealing with post-nasal drip and mucus collecting in my throat. It is clear, sticky and almost impossible to remove from throat by coughing or clearing my throat. Flonase does nothing, allergy pills do nothing. Had anyone else had an issue like this post COVID? How long did it last? What did you do to cope? Small problem in comparison to others that post here, I realize.

I'm sorry for your experience. I've been dealing for a year. I thought it would go away when I was over having Covid a year ago but it hasn't. It's totally frustrating because I feel like I can't do anything because of it. I've tried the remedies that you are doing or have tried except for the Nebulizer. I use a humidifier. I wake up choking at night at times. I just want it to go away. I don't know what else to do at this point. I hope we both can find a remedy to help us.
I battle Gerd and acid reflex for 15 years until my gastroenterologist did a CT Scan after filling me with barium and they discovered an upper intestine case of diverticulosis (Pouch in the upper intestines) was causing my problems but since like covid there is no cure if found in the upper intestines I had to live with it. My go to were Manuka Honey Drops (Nature's hydrogen Peroxide) for sore throats, acid reflux and low grade nausea.
same here, covid in august. the post nasal drip continues. prescrip flonase no help, prednisone, no help, same with antibiotics, and allegra. Seeing an ent end of october.
The same issue here. I've tried many sprays, including Flonase and some steroids. Netipot, elevated bed, Mucinex.....
ONLY one that I have found to help is Nasalcrom.
NOT Nasalcort.
I found it online, not too easy to find in stores. Works wonders
I have been dealing with the same thing. Doctors gave me a trial of meds and told me to also use Flonase, and Nasonex. Still, no change. I went through this for about 6 weeks then had a break. Started up again then a break. It started up again and feels worse than before. I am not sleeping fully, my muscles in my neck and throat are sore, I am clenching my teeth all the time now.
Yes, I have tried nasal rinsing, nasonex, antihistamines, cold/flu variations, sleeping with my head at more of an incline, and still nothing has a lasting effect. I give up and eventually it breaks for a week but so far keeps coming back.
I am becoming a very grumpy person without sleep. Someone, please tell me they have a working, long-term solution.
I have exactly same experience as you. I had covid in July. Post nasal drip started in August. It continues yet today. My allergy medication does not help. I am constantly chewing gum to get relief. I have seen several doctors, they tell me it’s not part of covid. The post nasal drip started in August, as well as constant cough, breathing issues and raised heart rate.
I had Covid recently and had a persistent feeling like I had a hairball near the back of my throat/ very high up respiratory tract. Would not come up or break up. Cough was non-productive. Made my feel like I was gaging.
I don't like taking medicine if I don't have to, so I tried all the usual, steam, tea, lozenges, all kinds of herbs and vitamins, etc. I finally broke down and took Dexamethasone Oral rinse .5mg that was in the cabinet. I am in the Dental profession and this is an old remedy for a lot of oral things such as Lichen Plants and such. I rinsed/gargled with it for a few minutes and swallowed a tiny bit several times while gargling. Spit out the rest. I took some Ibuprofen as well figuring there was inflammation. This did the trick for me. 80% better the next morning. I did this twice/day for several days.
I am not giving medical advice so seek the advice of your doctor. And if you need it tell them it's an Oral Solution without dye, .5mg.
Have had COVID. Have had post nasal drip for many years. COVID seemed to make it worse. I’m told (EMT) that the body naturally produces nasal mucous. By staying hydrated your normal mucosal load doesn’t thicken. It’s the thickness that causes the discomfort. Stay hydrated all day and the discomfort is relieved — and easier to cough up.
I have the same thing going on. It started a month after the original covid onset. I had started to feel better after 10 days but never really good and then went backwards with this throat mucous and inability to clear it. To complicate the whole situation I was diagnosed with heart failure at the same time. Covid caused? Cardiologist is uncertain because I had an existing cardiomyopathy and I wasn’t hospitalized for covid so the direct correlation isnt documented. Anyway the throat glob is accompanied by wheezing. This has been going on for two months already and chest x-ray is clear, heart echo shows no fluid, so it’s not caused by heart failure and fluid backup. I’m wondering if you experienced wheezing too? This is so frustrating. I don’t think my PCP would prescribe the rinse you’re talking about and who I would see for it. I’m thinking about ENT. Anyway, back to the main question, did you have wheezing too?
Yes see my response to @msddsq. And did you experience wheezing g along with the throat glob?
