I had Covid over Thanksgiving and got over it fine but I have had these waves of nausea periodically throughout the day. My doctor prescribed some medicine but when I read the description it says it is also used for schizophrenia and anxiety. I'm definitely not taking that. I did buy some pesto bismol liquigels and they help but I don't want to take them all the time. I do have some headaches that can cause nausea too. I'm getting my eyes checked this week. Anyone else have this problem?
As a nurse some medications have multiple uses. Just because it’s often used for schizophrenia doesn’t mean that’s what is being treated. There’s a strong link between the gut and brain and some medication can help. Some psychiatric medications help chronic pain too.
What med did your doc prescribe? Was it ondansetron (zofran)? My doc only gave me 1 script, but it was very effective. When I could not eat at all for days due to extreme nausea, it helped.
My nausea seems to have been caused by Cymbalta. One pill makes me sick for 3 days. ALL my docs were INSISTING it was not Cymbalta and I should continue it. I spent thousands on docs and tests… I finally took myself off and started to improve. Now Covid has seemed to aggravate my stomach again.
Anyway, if this is the drug, it helped me, but they’d never give me more. I think Dr said it can mess with brain chemicals. If it’s a dif drug, maybe you can try it to get some relief. I’m glad you’re asking questions and researching. You cannot trust your health or life to anyone, regardless of their degrees.
Thanks for your reply. My stomach troubles haven't bothered me for a while. I don't recall the name of the medicine she gave me and I think I got rid of them. I feel like some of us could write a book on the medical issues we have. Really frustrating at times.

After several weeks of stomach issues that included pain, constipation and some diarrhea I have watched carefully what I eat AND
started a good probiotic.....it seems to be helping. I had boodwork ups, stool tests and ct scan with contract....nothing. Waiting to hear if there will be next steps. very frustrating. I am now having almost nonstop headaches that nothing seems to touch.
Background info.
2 vaxxes and 1 boost when I had covid for 2 weeks in Jan, 22. Had second boost in May and had covid Jule 4th week end....very, very mild case.

I hope you get some relief soon. I didn't get any vaccines or boosters. I'm hearing a lot of weird stuff about them. I'm sure we'll never know the truth on all of it.

True! I’m so glad you’re doing better. I think I’m improving, too. Some days my stomach is better, some days worse. Still, way better than hurting all the time. It gives me hope that you’re better. I feel like this will take 6 mos to go away. I just retired before I got sick, so I have it good compared to folks trying to work or go to school. This would be a no-go for many jobs.
Oh, gosh, I’m so sorry. Yeah, they don’t want to give you something that might suppress the immune system. I’ve tried so many of these injectables… seems Humira works best for me. Not great, but better. Be sure you get in manufactur

Yes, I agree. Yep, gut, brain, and gut, immune system. Huge connection. When your gut is acting up, you’re messed up, lol. It’s good to hear she’s getting better.
On about day 40 after testing positive for Covid and still have persistent headaches and some nausea that comes and goes. Was taking Tylenol regularly for first sixteen days and some Advil, then stopped, but now the headaches seem to be getting worse this last 20 days - and nothing helps. I know it probably takes time from what I've read, but any point of view on relieving the headache pain? It's almost debilitating. Also started some anti anxiety meds to control tremors that started up as well, but stopped for a while and that didn't seem to stop the headaches.
Do you have a migraine script? I like Maxalt and Zofran, both work fast. However, I had the horrible headache, too, and Maxalt did not touch it. Neither did the fentanyl I take for RA pain (I have an implanted pain pump).
I think the Covid headache is the worst I’ve ever had. It was like my forehead was cramping, extreme unrelenting pain. I took Tylenol every 2 hours and a sleeping pill just to get a little relief/sleep. (I can’t take NSAIDS due to a GI bleed).
I’m sorry to hear you are suffering. Yes, it’s completely debilitating. Please keep us posted on your progress. As a migraine patient, it really bothers me that this symptom is still with you. Thank God, mine only lasted 2 wks. {{{Hugs}}}
Greetings, you are not alone, many cases of covid have been gastrointestinal instead of respiratory, including mine, and a year of long covid. Things that have helped me are the usual suspects. They might or might not help you and I am not a doctor! Quality probiotic like Garden of Life, adding probiotic strain Bacillus subtilis was a miracle, prebiotic like Heather's Tummy Fiber. Things that did not help at all: my old gerd meds like prevacid. It is worth doing research on covid's impact on ACE2, functional medicine MD recommend a few supplements and diet changes that helped me a lot. Be well!
I have had what I describe as IBS like (irritable bowel syndrome) symptons off and on for about 5 weeks. I have started taking the supplement slippery elm and find that it is helping relieve the flare ups. Hoping it will resolve soon,
