Shingrix and peripheral neuropathy
4 days after my 2nd Shingrix vaccination, I suddenly developed intense peripheral neuropathy in both feet...for the first time in my life...anyone else?

Hi, thank you for responding John. My insurance company has asked me to call them and make a report regarding my Drs conduct. They said that this is the kind of Dr. they don’t want with them. I am filing that report as well as the VAERS report, today. At my insistence, at my last appointment with him he finally gave me a referral to a Neurologist. I am worried since the neurologist he referred me too has nothing but really bad reviews. This appointment is on October 11th.
Hi Everyone, I had someone call me from the FDA this morning. (I had called and left a message asking for a call back) I am going through the same symptoms as so many of you have. He was asking me if I had sent in a report to VAERS regarding the Shingles vaccine and what it has done to me and so many others. I was literally just submitting my report and told him so. He suggested that everyone that I come in contact with via, comment/messaging boards, any friends or family that have had adverse reactions to the Shingles vaccine to please file a report. I feel that there is strength in numbers. We need to to let them know what the shingles vaccine has stolen from us. It will continue to happen if nothing is done. This is NOT okay. I am spreading the word. It took me 4+ months to and a bad Dr. to figure out what caused my symptoms. I am new here so I was unable to post the link to VAERS. Report an Adverse Event to VAERS can be googled.
I shared the VAERS link earlier but will share it again here for you....

Thank you John! I submitted my VAERS report yesterday.
I developed deep aching in both feet and lower legs less than 3 hours after receiving my first Shingrix vaccine at our local CVS! The next day added painful “electrical shocks” to my hands as well! However, I did not begin to make any vaccine connections until 5 days later when I started to feel bruising behind my right eye, and then blood red sclera. My primary care doctor (who treats me for Sjogrens and Celiac) immediately saw the Shingrix association and sent me to my Opthamalogist for additional verification. I am now at day 24 post Shingrix vaccine with no improvement! PC prescribed Gabapentin which I am terrified to try because of side effects. Exercise helps a lot, but resting or sleeping bring the pain, tingling and numbness back almost immediately. I was told that the vaccine possibly triggered Guillain-Barre, and to definitely not the second Shringix shot.
City of Hope is doing great research in pain management. Was in hospital there for 20 days 6 years ago for cancer treatment and the care is off the charts. Call them. Loma Linda has a great rep but City of Hope is the place I would send friends and family to.
Hi @chahtabutterfly, Welcome to Connect. I'm sorry to hear you had this horrible reaction after receiving your Shingrix vaccine. Hoping your doctor can help you find some relief for the painful symptoms.
Have you reported the adverse reaction to the VAERS system?

Hi John,
Thank you so much for replying so quickly!
(First, I have a mathematical correction… I received the shot on September 9, so today is actually Day 18 of these strange and morphing Shringrix side effects.)
I intended to visit the VAERS site the past couple of days, however, I live in Gulf Breeze Florida where we are preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Ian.
I appreciate any guidance you may offer, and I will report my Shingrix concerns to VAERS today!
Thank you so much!
Chahtabutterfly
Chahtabutterfly, I'm hoping members with similar symptoms can offer suggestions to help with your pain. I've had both Shingrix shots with just the normal side effects, sore arm, etc. Hoping Hurricane Ian makes a sharp hook out to sea and all our Florida folks stay safe but are prepared to evacuate if necessary.
I have a body with rare and very rare health conditions. On 9-14-22, I went to Walmart to get my annual Flu shot from my favorite pharmacist. He has guided me thru many serious health problems and knows all about them. We discussed the Shingles shot and he recommended I get it because I’m 79yo with a very weak immune system and a heart that is compromised because of a 1 in a million heart birth defect. I was scared of getting the shot since I have so many allergic reactions including antibiotics.
So on Tuesday 9-20-22, I received the shingles shot and the disaster started. I’ve suffered thru 3 heart attack that almost killed me, so I know how I feel when one is about to hit or lead up to it. Within 15 minutes of getting the shot, I did some shopping, checked out and waited for my bus. That’s when it happened, I started to feel pressure on the entire middle of my chest, just like heart attack #1 started in the cardiology recovery area after having a stent put in. I have to take the bus to get home and the level of pressure increased to a 5-6 level pain on the bus as Palpitations started. I got sick to my stomach, got dizzy and felt like I was going to pass put. By the evening, the fever up to 100.4, sore throat, coughing and could barely walk. My new PCP is on vacation and the pharmacist doesn’t work until tomorrow. The above symptoms only worsened with shots of heart pain in the 7/8 range, constant fever, palpitations for the last 8 days. I’m really getting scared because my heart is so weak and can’t take much more punishment from a damn vaccine for the chickenpox I had as a kid and the shingles about 20 years ago. I’m so weak and frustrated because I didn’t expect this kind of reaction. I’m tempted to call VARES. I have blood turning into cancer, I don’t need being killed by some vaccine shot. @becky1024
