CA 27-29 numbers rising: Does anyone else have an issue like this?
My Ca 27.29 seems to be high....in the 40’s....and my oncologist says that that is probably normal for me. He checked the records from my first bc. Does anyone else have an issue like this?

I’m ten years in with breast cancer, so my oncologist is thinking I’ve maxed out to radiation in that area. My lungs have damage as I’ve also treated sternum growth. When the clavicle mass appeared, we found other growth at the same time, so I switched to Piqray since I had the right mutation. Unbelievably, it shrunk, along with the spit in my liver and my uptake in my other bones is down. Don’t know how long it’ll be effective, but I’m grateful!
Two oncologists told me anything under 38 is normal. I started feeling not well so had markers checked. kept rising and sure enough an ultrasound found enlarged node in armpit...had biopsy and is cancer recurrence... But!! My 27-29 marker went down to 9!!! It had been 17 before biopsy.
Hey, I'm a freelance journalist (as well as a BC survivor) who is doing an article for CURE magazine on patient access to their lab results. Because of a new federal law, they get see results immediately, sometimes before their oncologist can. It seems you like getting that info promptly. I'd love to interview you about the pluses and minuses of seeing test results super-fast. Apologies if you find this email intrusive; I'm just anxious to get some patient voices in my piece instead of the "experts."

I would be happy to help as well as I have a lot of thoughts regarding the use of the medical portal, both positive and negative.
I also enjoy reading Cure magazine. 👍🏻👍🏻

Cool! Thanks for the clarification.
That sounds like a very interesting piece you are writing. I found out that 1) I had breast cancer and 2) the lumpectomy (I had 2) did not achieve clear margins, which would mean a mastectomy. I feel very ambivalent about this. I was devastated.
Wait.....you found these things out via your patient online account?!?! Holy moly!
Mine have been rising for over a year. Last one was 695!! Had PET scan and found nothing. It is scary but not diagnostic and I continue with treatment.
