I started and have stayed at 10mg. Like you, i want to be able to function. If I have a particularly stressful day or two, I add some CBD to my daily regimen.

I’ve been on Celexa 40 mg approximately a month. I slowly went from 5 mg and up. Also on Xanax for awhile. I’m 66 yrs old. I was on Celexa 20 mg for many years and in 2020 I got off of it. I’m having nausea. Not sure if it’s from the Celexa or anxiety or digestive problems. Also sweating, crawling out of my skin and shaky. I don’t know if dosage is too high or my age. Another person from a support group mentioned Cipralex. But I think it’s in the same group as Celexa. He didn’t have any problems with it when he was on it. But he was younger. Does anyone know of these 2 meds? Thank you.
I have been on Celexa many years (40 mg). I started out taking it in the mornings. I eventually felt that it may be making me drowsy. I now take it in the evenings around 9:30 pm. I think this works for me.

@flow65 Celexa and Cipralex are part of the same category of antidepressant medications called SSRI, but they act differently. It is said that Cipralex works on more extreme cases. I have been on Celexa 10mg myself, and find that is enough for me.
My suggestion regarding your nausea, sweating, shaky symptoms is to first rule out anything that might be going on with you, by getting a good physical done. A review of your current conditions and medications by your medical team will help you out, then make the decisions about adding in anti-depressants. Perhaps also therapy, which can be very beneficial?

I was on Celexa 20mg for years. In 2020 I had stopped it. Then went back to my psychiatrist. He had me on Xanax and tried different antidepressants. I had trouble with some of them. Slowly went on Celexa. He has me on 40mg. My body built up a tolerance to Xanax and my husband and I know I’m going through withdrawal. Psychiatrist wants me to increase celexa to 60mg. We don’t want to. Called pharmacist and he said he’s only heard up to 40mg. My husband researched it and it could give heart problems. The dr had suggested taking Buspar. We looked that up and it’s not a good drug and especially to add it to celexa. I’ve had bloodwork done. I know my vitamin d is low. I’ve had some other tests done. Not sure if you know of anything else my regular dr could do. They all think it’s from anxiety/depression and stress. Thank you for your response. Flo

@flow65 It seems our bodies tend to "get comfortable" with some medications over time, and we find they are not as effective as they once were. It's frustrating, isn't it? We work hard to get the right combination.
Personally, I have been on 10 mg Celexa, and that is enough for me. When I feel my anxiety and depression are getting the best of me, I turn to physical exercise, fresh air, doing what makes me happy. I also journal a lot, which helps to get that stuff "out of my mind". Helping myself find what works has been a challenge, to be sure.
Good for you for looking in to the medications, and understanding what are not a good combination. How will you approach this with your doctor?

I am trying to decide on celexa or lexapro. I did take celexa last night and anxiety seems worse this morning, it may be me causing it to due to worrying so much. Anyone input with these two medications would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

When does everyone seem to do best taking celexa of the morning or afternoon. I am wanting to start this but I always have anxiety starting new meds.
