Welcome @davef99. I'm going out on a limb here and tagging fellow mesenteric panniculitis members like
@pcfromfm @smezaael @informe @nancykeenan @erincorn @lauraharris111 @lobell2 to see if any of them have had cataract surgery. Without knowing anyone's age, I may have missed the mark. 😊

Hi Dave. I’ve had it done twice. Worked great first time, second , not so much. Eye not perfect yet (I tend to have a lot of water flow and blurry vision )and I was ill for about a week or so. Just the stress I guess. Any kind of stress gets me. Not a flare up just pain and discomfort in routine. I tried to rest more and was really careful what I ate. Best of luck! ❤️

Colleen: Thanks much for your response. I am 87. My MP was discovered 1 year ago. My concern: MP not particularly bothering me. I have been scheduled for cataract surgery. Knowing a little about the nature of MP (e.g., tissue scarring), I became concerned about the possibility of surgical procedures triggering an MP/autoimmune response at the surgical site. In doing a bit of research I found a case of a 78 year old woman who had a different type of autoimmune disease, and after cataract surgery developed something called corneal melt. Although a comparison/connection between her autoimmune condition and MP is most likely thin and a stretch, both are classified as an autoimmune condition. So I thought it prudent to at least investigate to see if there might be other cases recorded where individuals specifically with MP developed serous eye problems following, and connected with, cataract surgery. I've also requested the involved ophthalmologists to research this matter. My apologies for this lengthy explanation. Again, many thanks for your response and contacting other MP members.

Thank you for your note. I am hoping you can view the reply I've sent to Colleen. If so, then you can see my concern was focused on unexpected serious medical consequences developing for those with MP following cataract surgery, that is, the MP triggering an unexpected response at the surgical site. Best wishes for your eye's complete and swift recovery.

Hi Dave- doubt the issue I had with the second eye related to MP but the belly issues I had definitely related to having the surgery. Best of luck!
