Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

I have had two sets of Evenity shots and the only side effects are joint pain in my hips for a couple days. I am a very active 78-year-old I would like to have my life back so I really had no choice in taking these shots.

Not sure who recommended Margaret Martin, Melioguide, but I'm grateful. I believe she will be very helpful and keep us from getting hurt. Great suggestions and I learned a lot in only a few videos. Thanks so much.

I received my last Evenity shot (#12) in July and just had a DEXA done. Here are the before and after T-score results:

Spine before: -4.6
Spine after: -3.4
Femoral neck before: -2.9
Femoral neck after: -2.5
Total hip before: -2.3
Total hip after: -1.7

Very happy to see improvement. I was lucky in that I did not have any side effects from the Evenity. Will be meeting with my Rheumatologist next week to discuss what medication to take next.

Congratulations on your Dexa scan improvements. Were these the results over one year? I think Evenity is still recommended for one year of injections. Remember, now you have to protect the work that has been done. Please make sure you are comfortable with your final choice of the next medication. There seem to be a lot of up-and-down references for the next step. You may want to choose a medication that allows you to take a drug holiday once in a while. You may want to check out some of the side effects reported on Connect.

I am thrilled to hear that you had no side effects from your bone-building medication. Good luck on your next journey. Please let me know what you have chosen. Sharing is sort of what Connect is all about. That is how we become educated about our bodies, and both treatments and medications. Good luck to you.

Yes, these results are a one-year change. I had a DEXA done right before I started Evenity and then again a month after the last shot. Evenity is still only approved to be taken for one year.

Thank you so much for this very accurate information. Much appreciated as it is also very encouraging. Congratulations ! At least now you will feel safer. It will be interesting to know what will be your next therapy.
I just had #7. So far no insurmontable side effects.
Warmest regards

I have also just had #7 Evenity shot- and interested in your decision as well.
Other than achy joints I’ve had no side effects.

Those are significant results from my perspective. I have Evenity injection #11 this week and will be reporting the results of my DEXA scan in September. I am encouraged and hopeful for similar improvements in bone density. Thanks for sharing!

I’m new to this site. My doctor wanted to start me on Evenity for my osteoporosis. My health insurance denied approval for it. However I am now on original Medicare part A & part B. As I understand it part B covers Evenity. I know it’s expensive. I’m trying to find out what it’s going to cost a month as I am retired I will have to budget for it. Is anyone on Medicare taking it with no other coverage. What is the cost ? Thanks
