Smoking cessation: Has anyone tried hypnosis for this?
I have smoked on and off for over 20 years. Quit for 7 months then relapsed. Has anyone tried hypnosis for this? Thank you for any advice!!

Wow! Congratulations on quitting. It's never too late to quit; you are an excellent example of that. It is the best thing you could have done for yourself. Take good care.
I smoked a pack a day (or a pack and a half) even when I was sick. I couldn't stop for anything. Then I went to a group session of hypnosis and bought a tape to listen to the same thing for the next two weeks, just much shorter. I quit with no side effects, no weight gain (though I did go through lots of bags of carrots) and no problem. Sometimes I had to leave big parties if people were drinking and smoking. Actually, I couldn't go to bars because I always had to smoke when I drank. Eventually, I could have wine with dinner, etc., and not smoke. But that hypnosis helped me quit smoking--and cut back a lot on my drinking. When I needed to quit drinking, however, I had to go to AA. Hynosis has its limits. But for smoking? Aces! Good luck!
Congratulations……no hypnosis or AA………..water, water, water…….I drank more water than I thought possible…..this was over 40 years ago for smoking and 30 for drinking….couple water with determination and a simply wonderful wife I was given the opportunity to live my life.
Namaste
I live in the Greater Daytona Beach area and wanted to get any recommendations for a really good Hypnotherapist for my smoking. I am 71 and the COPD is finally getting to me and I am dry coughing all the time. Can anyone in the group give me a contact phone number and address where I can find a professional hypnotist to help me with smoking? Anywhere in n.e. or even central Florida would be good.
Welcome, @rkshelton. Have you had any luck in finding a hypnotist that specializes in quitting smoking?
