Have you been able to get Evusheld? Or find where it is offered?

I am an immunocompromised rheumatoid arthritis patient. If you are immunocompromised have you been able to find the drug EVUSHELD. It is used to treat immunocompromised patients as a measure to help prevent COVID and its serious side effects. Major news outlets are reporting supplies at Mayo but no medical professional I have spoken with knows where to get it. It must be acquired with a prescription from a doctor. News media (Kaiser Health News, New York Times) also report that pharmacies and doctors have supplies that are going unused.

Hi Ginger, not sure whose misunderstanding you are referencing?
Yes, agree advocating is so important. Which doesn't always mean doctor is going o agree, but gives me a reasonable medical explanation as to why they may not.

@bunzman Misunderstanding on the part of primary care doctors who may not have a full grasp on how being immune compromised for whatever reason affects our daily lives and how we react to things like Covid and infections.

@kspowell

what did you find out regarding the side effects? I've not heard of any.

I took 4 different injections of Evusheld (first series, and then the decision was made it needed to be doubled, so went back for another two injections.). Ironically, the side effects (for me) were similar to the Moderna vaccines…but a little bit worse. Fatigue, muscle aches, some chills….I rested, slept, and felt generally “ick” for about 3 days total…first and second day more so than the last day. After that, I felt 100% normal. I am very happy I took Evusheld and continue to hope I can get the 60 months injections sometime in Sept.

Hi all. I haven't been on here for a while. I'm a volunteer helping Rob Relyea with his site, which has a locator for finding places in your area who have Evusheld. It has exactly the same information as the government locator at https://covid-19-therapeutics-locator-dhhs.hub.arcgis.com/ but Rob's site is more user-friendly. It is here:
https://covidsafe.fyi/evusheld

I have a couple updates about Evusheld, too, for people here who need it or think you might. We now have on Rob's site an Evusheld Guide, which has detailed information about the government criteria for who qualifies. It also includes suggestions for how to persuade your doctor to prescribe Evusheld if they haven't heard of it, or think you do not qualify. The Guide is here: https://covidsafe.fyi/evusheld/guide/
Both the Locator and the Guide are free, and do not ask you to register. We just put them up as a public service.

Also, wanted people to know that if your doctor is willing to give you Evusheld, but you have trouble locating a site near you that will fill his prescription and administer the shots, it is now possible for doctors to order a single dose to be delivered to their office to give to you. The information about this service is at this site: https://aspr.hhs.gov/COVID-19/Therapeutics/updates/Pages/important-update-27July2022.aspx
The site also gives more info about Evusheld for docs who are unfamiliar with it. The number doctors can call to order Evusheld is 833-388-7453

Finally, the FDA now recommends that people who have had one series of Evusheld injections have a second one 6 months later. The information about that is here: https://aspr.hhs.gov/COVID-19/Therapeutics/updates/Pages/important-update-29June2022.aspx

Whew! Hope all this is helpful.

MADE A TYPO IN MY POSTING ON 8/26. I wrote "it is not possible for doctors to order a single dose "

I MEANT TO WRITE : "IT IS NOW POSSIBLE FOR YOUR DOCTOR TO ORDER A SINGLE DOSE OF EVUSHELD TO BE DELIVERED TO THEIR OFFICE TO GIVE TO YOU."

Yes, I had two shots of Phizer and my neuropathy (CIDP) got worse, to the point of having to use a wheelchair to go any distance. After about 6 months the shots wore off and I regained my ability to function as before.

I not only considered, I hunted down a provider and received the two shots last March. Evusheld should be fairly easy to get because it's been in the news. There were no side effects. You need to get the shots every 6 months.

I have had two injections, six months apart. My pulmonologist told me about EVUSHELD.
