How has Mindful Meditation Practice helped you lower pain levels?

How has mindful meditation practice help lower chronic pain from graduates of Mayo Clinic's Pain Rehab Center's program? If so, what specific principles were most helpful.

I took a mindfulness meditation class from Hosp of U of Penn in 2017 and have used it almost daily to help deal with my pain. I usually take one or two 15 or 20 min breaks during the day to lay down and meditate and if I wake at night due to pain. It is an added tool for pain control.

I do the same thing, it certainly for me does not stop my pain but it very relaxing , unless I am unable to relax with due to the pain. I had mine on several times in the night last night. Check out Headspace, I love it. There are so many options for everyone. thanks for your post.

I have been dealing with crps ( rsd) for over 20 years. But l still get down when pain get high. Does anyone out there have any way dealing with this?

I'm not a graduate of the Mayo Clinic's Pain Rehab Center. However, I've began practicing southern Indian Mysore Ashtanga Yoga since 2020 as therapy for osteoarthritis and spinal stenosis. The practice includes eight areas or limbs including breath control, awareness, concentration, and meditation as well as physical poses that are performed in a continuous flow. This practice has changed my life in many ways with significant benefits in managing my orthopedic condition. You can find a summary of Ashtanga Yoga at the following link.

Keep in mind that most Yoga instruction in Western Europe and the United States focuses almost entirely on the poses and breath. However, there are many books available from Indian authors that cover the entire Ashtanga Yoga spectrum.
