I am wondering if there have been any deaths associated with the Long Haul Covid?

@frking, have you been able to find any data on Google yet? I found this one article from Veterans Affairs from 2021
- COVID-19 ‘long-haulers’ face increased risk of death and many other health problems: https://www.research.va.gov/currents/0421-COVID-19-long-haulers-face-increased-risk-of-death-and-many-other-health-problems.cfm
It's not really saying anything longhaulers don't already know. I'm sure researchers are on top of this data collection, but as with everything COVID and long haul COVID, it's work in progress as everything is happening as we experience it unlike diseases and conditions that have been studied for decades.
Thank you Coleen for your response and research. The NY Times article ..physical and mental exhaustion, and the one you sent are so relieving to read. We will know something, but it takes time.
I was hospitalized for three weeks in Oct/Nov of 2021. Feb brought me back to the emergency room for just feeling awful. I was admitted for three days, tested for so many things, and so far only a few issues are found. I am working with a Pulmonologist, Cardiologist, and with a doctor and his staff using herbs. I am not as ill as some of the accounts I have read here, but the issues are real and we must be our own advocates. The initial reaction from doctors as to the credibility of what we experience was shameful. It was at the emergency room in Feb that I first heard about Long Covid. Fortunately the doctor was aware and tested areas that have become known to be affected. I will have a cardiac catherization next week. My pulmonologist has referred me to an endocrinologist, not many here, so I will have to wait a bit for that. I have been on the herbs for two weeks, have another week to go, then a blood test, then 6 more weeks. So far that has been the only protocol that is having positive results. It has been a frustrating 6 months, but doctors are beginning to listen and act. I am very fortunate and I hope all the members of this group can find the answers they need.
I had COVID 2/2020, been suffering with severe LONG HAULERS since, in a Clinic, but it is not intergrated and I spend more time with trying to invest my symptoms than the doctors, then they r brushed off. The mental health aspect of PTSD is so relevant. Just keep trying to get thru each day.
Kathy,
Yes, PTSD is completely relevant--I was also prescribed anti depressants, and they have helped. You say your symptoms are severe. I hope they are being addressed with testing.
If it wasn't for my insistence I would be nowhere. I was first told by my primary care doctor that it was stress and anxiety, and this was evidenced by the fact that I was doing so much research. I had to reply that of course I am stressed--I have an illness and you are not believing me, so I must find evidence to prove it to you, and for support for myself, He wasn't even interested in reading the articles I had printed out, and prescribed the anti depressants. This shall pass. Stay positive.
What herbs?
My anxiety became much worse after having covid in August 2021 . I was sick until almost Christmas with pneumonia, lack of energy, hair falling out, neuropathy in new parts of my body , brain fog. The inability to concentrate is so very frustrating . My depression became much worse. I had to get a 2nd antidepressant and an anti anxiety med which does seem to help. I'm on 2400 mg of gabapentin per day and sometimes that's not enough. I guess my question is is there a "standard" set of tests people need to have to determine what other things may happen? There's just so many unanswered questions regarding this I don't know where to start and many people haven't heard of long haulers, let along acknowledge it's a very real thing.
I have just finished my first three weeks on oregano oil 2x a day and L lysine. I will have a blood test tomorrow and it is not your usual general test, but an Epstein Barr virus antibody panel.
There are 6 more weeks to this stage and the cycle may repeat itself depending on additional blood work. I cannot say that what was prescribed for me, a 73 year old female, would be the same protocol for you.
