What helps with vision deficits after a stroke?

Posted by mbd @mbd, Dec 10, 2021

Does anyone have any resources to help a
53 yr old male with vision deficits after strokes? There doesn’t seem to be a lot of specific information about this. I can’t find any research either. All I see are statements indicating that vision can be affected by strokes. I would appreciate any input . Thank you md

Hi @mbd and welcome! I see that you are looking for information on vision loss after your stroke.
According to the fact sheet, Most people who have vision loss after a stroke will not fully recover their vision. Some recovery is possible, usually in the first few months after a stroke.

There is a lot of good information here if you would like to give it a read.
When did you have your stroke and how much of your vision is currently impaired?

most of the time my vision is good, but get the "jittery" after a while of reading. Stroke was 04/22. 2022 . I am pretty cognitive able, just worried about vision, I am active, and maybe over anxious. Muzrik2gr

@muzrik2gr Haha, not a problem at all. I can delete that comment if you like. Have you found some other members that are having similar problems?

Try to connect with a Neuro Optometrist for Vision Retraining. Very helpful! I was left with post trauma vision syndrome after my stroke. Here is some info on it: https://www.neurovisualperformance.ca/education/post-trauma-vision-syndrome-conditions-and-symptoms/
