Brachioradial pruritus. (severe itching on forearms and neck, no rash).

Does anyone know of this. I think its rare but does exist. My neurologist does not know about this. I have compression between my c5 and c6 cervical disk and have had alot of sun damage to my skin.

I’m taking cooler showers & Cymbalta (30mg) daily. The only time that I’ve had trouble is from too warm showers or putting lotion & sometimes sunscreen. Zyrtec seems to help when the itching starts .

I forgot to mention physical therapy!

I eliminated ice packs last December after resuming Lexapro, but continued with a compounded cream recommended by itch specialists at Hopkins. After getting saturated with the right kind and dose of liquid magnesium, and some PIT injections, I cut back to 10 mg. of Lexapro and no longer need the cream. Last stage will be eliminating the Lexapro all together, which I am going to try this summer.

I also started a ketogenic diet in February - mainly reducing carbs - I have always eaten whole foods. I don’t take any meds and only a few supplements. I mostly listen to Dr. Carolyn Dean, MD for the best advice on nutrition and good health.

There is a way to beat this problem!!

I don’t know if I just got extremely lucky or if I found the cure, but CBD cream, and my Chiropractor made an adjustment in my neck and I have been itch free for 7 months. Try it what do you have to lose

@needahelp @bobbiellen and @enoughlaready that's great that you all have found different, but successful ways of treating your brachioradial pruritus! I'm sure this is news that @pyfm @njcarolnjn and @montana_mom8 would find encouraging.

@needahelp when the itching starts, how long does it take to go away? Is just one dose of zyrtec enough?
@bobbiellen how has the low carb diet affected your symptoms?

The Zyrtec didn’t help before I had the physical therapy & the Cymbalta. It takes about 25-30 minutes.

How low of a low carb diet are you on? I’m on the diabetic diet that gives me a number of permissible carbs for me. I try to avoid sugar, don’t use artificial sweeteners, & try to eat some organic (what I feel that I can afford).

I have had it for 4 years now. Found relief at Mayo . The gave me an RX of Katamine/Amatripoline. It helps so I can sleep. Also ice packs help a bunch

I also have those compressions, finally after itching since the 1980's on forearms only, both arms scar from scratching so. Had to get a Dr in 2000 for reliefe, she prescribed hydroxyzine, saved me some. find here the brachioradial preuritis, my primary thinks pinched nerve in neck.
Sun damage is also a symptom of this and can contribute. But not me. Now know why have trouble getting it on pillow right. Not one neuro, dermatologist, not one specialists could tell me why I have other while I bled. I look online here and find it.

I've doesn't work, but one Dr prescribed pain crean, which is aspercreme. For some reason the roll on aspercream makes it worse, so just get the lotion. It does burn a little of there's a cut, but it's relive cause it goes right away. This has really helped along with the prescrip. triacinolone cream. Nothing is perfect, but it helps. I am asleep before my head hits the pillow, so need nothing for help.but don't drink coffee. Zyrtec did nothin g.
