Anyone tried Dry Needling or Acupuncture for Pain or Neuropathy?

Posted by judypall @judypall, Mar 22, 2019

Has anyone had any luck with either dry needling or acupuncture? I have tried each of them one time. But made my feet tingle more. The PT who was administering the dry needling said that it goes through a cycle of pain to get better. I wasn’t too sure on that. Anyone?

I’m hoping this lasts, of course. I also do a total no lectin diet by Dr Gundry for inflammation. Also do CBD cream, and gummies. So far, so good.

I have been going to an acupuncturist for 8 weeks. She tried herbs as well as acupuncture but I have not had any relief from my erythromelalgia. Has anyone tried mexilitine ?

After going to physical therapy for 2 weeks, a therapist recommended dry needling due to the knots in the side of my neck. I was told it resets your body somehow to get rid of pain. Not gonna lie, it’s not real pleasant, but after only 1 treatment, my right arm is almost pain free. Going for another treatment next week.

I had dry needling twice on my neck and shoulder area. It was kind of cool when it released the tension. I was sore the rest of the day, then felt pain relief. Each time the pain and muscle tightness returned by the next day. So it was helpful for short term relief, but I would need it all over my body (think porcupine) and I decided pool therapy and chiropractor was a better use of my time and money.

Pain and symptoms completely gone after 5 years of misery once I stopped Amlodipine. My lower legs only became excruciating only when prone trying to sleep, which meant I had little sleep and up most nights running in place to help a bit. I discovered the connection of Amlodipine on line although well known Corcoran meta analysis disavowed a connection. On the outlier chance I might be one of those affected, I stopped Amlodipine very very very slowly. And I am cured totally. ( I tried this because I asked myself why this question had been submitted for a well respected meta analysis study in the first place. DO NOT STOP YOUR AMLODIPINE without careful study and medical advice.

Olivia did stopping Amlodopine affect your heart? I take it for high blood pressure.

@judypall, not sure if you're still looking for answers, but I just saw this thread.
I went through 6 weeks of acupuncture for idiopathic autonomic neuropathy and there were no changes in my symptoms. The acupuncturist told me in the beginning that if after the 6 weeks of treatment I didn't notice a difference, then it wouldn't help. At least he was honest.
Hope you have found relief.

Do you tell the doctor or the MA that you require help getting onto the table? They have step stools to help you up if you ask. They do not want you to fall on there premises sand if you wish a through exam by the doctor you need to be on the table. The table itself is for exam purposes not overt comfort and the table height is for Doctor benefit to perform a good exam, which is what you need.
