Thanks for sharing. That too was a horrible experience. Good that your condition proved not to be life threatening. I pray mine isn’t either, but as you found out, getting straight answers is hard.
Also, the internet can be confusing and scary.
I will be seeing my cardiologist this am. His office is at the same hospital where my pft was done. I know that technicians are not doctors, but they know a lot. The fact that this guy said my results were so good does not add up.
I just relocated to Eastern Tn from Miami, so I don’t have a feel for whether these guys are any good or not.
I want answers and I want them now. I’m scared but also in a very confrontational mood. There is no excuse for the time it took to contact me or the nurses’ behavior and I will deal with it.
BTW, don’t just hand off an envelope to her office-hand it directly to her. I’ve had more than one thing “lost” that way.

Just wanted to say that I've had my ups and downs with doctors and think it can sometimes be partially my fault too. A few years ago I had the opportunity to meet and listen to a presentation by Dr. Victor Montori, a Mayo Clinic doctor who is the cofounder of The Patient Revolution - https://patientrevolution.org/team-1. They have a lot of good information that is helpful for joining the patient revolution to make healthcare what it should be.

Check it out!

Actually, Helen, the technician didn’t diagnose; he just said it looked good. Probably did say too much; though.
The nurse who called didn’t explain the diagnosis very well and was evasive about prognosis.
Add that to calling on a Friday afternoon!! The worst part was the second nurse saying “ well, I’m not really understanding what you want from me” when I told her I felt like I was in an emotional crisis.
The cardiologist was noncom-
mittal, said he’d defer to the pulmonologist re: prognosis.
Said he’d see me in six months and that he was sure I’d be around after he waved the stethoscope over me.
The real hero of the day was my old pulmonologist/sleep dr. from Miami, who actually returned my call(I called his office Friday to ask if they’d seen any evidence of restrictive lung disease). He told me to fax the report and he’d look at it. God bless him; he didn’t have to do that and he said some reassuring things. I do feel better.
Looking forward to getting to Mayo.
I’ve also considered moving to Rochester, by the way, retirement 75.

I often call what they did to you, when it's me providers are doing it to, them "putting me out of their misery" which goes hand in hand with them doing things that are so terrible that they know I'll quit their practice and go somewhere else. I think they learn those kind of tactics from bad pastors. It can include gaslighting. If they gave you an antidepressant, and an inappropriate one at that, I'd be filling out that doctors' ROI (Release of Information). However, another way to do it is to just ask your insurance company what the diagnoses from the last whatever period of time are. If they just give you codes, fine. Look those codes up online and it will tell you. In WA State we get to then do Requests for an Amendment form, and there's a time limit on how long they can take processing it. Occasionally, the provider does correct the record. In fact, I have better luck with them by just asking them nicely to do correct the record, with specifics, in my patient online portals. If you act like it was just a misunderstanding. Then, if they will not "amend" the record, we get to do what's called a Statement of Disagreement that has to be published at the same time as any release of that record, to anyone, if we ask for it that way. I get to use my own words about what I disagree with, what I believe did happen, all of that. It should be concise though. By the way, after my last child, I couldn't afford antidepressants that never worked on me anyway, so I tried St. John's Wort standardized. It was better than any pharmacudicals I ever tried. I see CBD oil listed in these group notes. It might be as good or better, I don't know, I've never tried it. There are other things you can try. Good luck.

I have just changed my doctor. Where I live I don't have much choice. I am with Loma Linda which likes to think it has a "reputation" but it really doesn't. And the reason I changed is so stupid When I had to refill my prescriptions he just ignored me. Had to call different people and get loud on the phone until I finally got my prescription. Isn't that a stupid and silly reason to have to change doctors? Am seeing the new one August 3rd. Hope things change.
