Hemolytic anemia and case management

Posted by jenr @jenr, Jul 4, 2022

Hi,
I am trying to get a hematologist and pulmonologist appointment I’m Rochester. Will there be someone to help me manage care? I think I need immunologist too for my CVID, but I guess I can only start with 2 specialties?

Also, should I just plan on staying a week?

I’m pretty nervous.

Thanks,
Jen

Hi @jenr The easiest way to get started with the appointment application process is this address: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

If you click on that link it will take you to the Mayo Clinic appointment request page. You’ll see phone numbers for each campus. I see you’re interested in appointments in Rochester so simply give that phone number a call.
The coordinator who answers the phone will be able to get the process started for you by asking a number of questions. They will be able to discern where it would be most helpful for you to begin. There are numerous hotels with flexible accommodations so you’ll be able to get lodging when you know more about your schedule.

Mayo is known for their interdisciplinary collaboration so no matter what speciality you need, once you’re evaluated, other doctors can be brought in as necessary.

You can self refer to get an appointment at the clinic but other members have said that it’s helpful to have a doctor’s referral. Do you currently have a hematologist who can give you a referral to the clinic along with current records?

Hi @jenr, in addition to the great information @loribmt provided about getting an appointment, you can also learn more about how the coordination between specialities and teams works in this related discussion:
