Nasal passage blocked

Posted by zaa @zaa, May 20, 2021

Anyone else have one nasal passage totally blocked all the time? I use neti pot, saline spray, etc but never is unblocked. I was told I have deviated septum. Was also told to use Flonase but don’t like it.

@seekinginfo, @zaa, @ess77, and for all of those bothered by a blocked nasal passage, I thought you might be interested in an article about a nasal implant that might provide relief to some patients who have a specific type of nasal obstruction.

This is for a very specific issue, nasal valve collapse, specifically for the inner nasal valve.

Exactly!

As I wrote in my post. This "might provide relief to some patients who have nasal obstruction."

Thank you for mentioning this again.

I was adding information. There are several parts of the nose (turbinates, septum, inner and outer nasal valve)and several conditions (allergies, polyps, etc) that can obstruct air flow in the nose. I was merely pointing out that the article you attached was for the inner nasal valve so those interested or not interested could either read or not read it.

I’ve been dealing with two blocked nasal passages and no home remedies have helped at all. I get people telling me to use Vicks for the vapor or use the neti pot to clean your passages. Nothing helps. Vapors only help when I can get some air through and I can’t even have that. ER doc just told me to get a humidifier and sent me home. I haven’t been able to sleep for a hour at most these past few days

I take one allergy pill twice a day (doc orders) and an allergy spray I was using once a week. I’ve been dealing with the side effects of the flu shot since middle of October, my allergies have been haywire. Now 3 days ago I’ve been have my nasal passages completely blocked.

Drink warm or hot water that helps with allergies and sinus related issues.

Can you please share what the Mayo proprietary nasal spray is?
I’m using Xlear nasal cleansing bottle daily with their packets containing xylitol which moisturizes as well as cleans.

Thanks

It has a very strong steroid in it for inflamation.

I had a septoplasty and I am soooooo glad that I did

I don’t know about others’ negative experiences

I can breathe well for the first time in my adult life

I was in misery before from not being able to breathe

It has been quite scary at times

And being able to breathe is way better than I could have hoped

I love my ENT

I don’t know where all of these folks are coming from

The surgery did exactly what I hoped it would
