Struggling with anxiety while undergoing diagnostic testing

@flow65. Hi, Flo Sorry you’re still having all these problems. You stated “i would like to know if it’s a possibility of medications or anxiety or both.” I’m not sure what you meant by this. WHAT could be a possibility of medications or anxiety?

Sorry I’ve had nausea for awhile. I’m just wondering if it’s from meds and or anxiety. No one can give me a definitive answer. Thank you. Flo

@flow65 OK, now I understand! You can look up your drugs online or I have an app on my phone called Drugs.com. I really like it because it explains everything i need to know about my medications.It may be easiest for you to make a list of your medications and dosages and then see if you can get an appointment with a pharmacist at the local pharmacy. They are the most knowledgeable of medications. And take notes!
Is that something you could do?

Unfortunately, the pharmacists we have in the area have different opinions. One will give us their opinion and then another will have a different opinion. One says all medications have side effects. This is so frustrating. Plus, they will tell us if you have problems contact your dr. Thank you for contacting me. Flo

@flow65 Yes, I agree that most all medications have side effects, but that shouldn’t stop you from asking about the nausea and it’s relation to your medications. Pharmacists can have good advice on the best ways to take medications that will help avoid problems, like nausea.

@flow65, you are certainly not alone in feeling heightened anxiety when dealing with diagnostic testing. Technicians conducting the tests often have helpful suggestions to make you more comfortable. It sounds like your anxiety is something you are working hard to manage.

I don’t know anyone that has not suffered during this crazy pandemic!
I was diagnosed with two autoimmune do’s and put on two meds that are “ challenging at best”. My anxiety from the diagnosis and the meds was through the roof and then I remembered my Rheumatologist stating that Accupuncture can be helpful in the treatment of autoimmune!
Let me tell you I don’t know yet about the impact it is having for the AntiSynthetase and Sjogrens BUT my anxiety is gone!!!
I feel so good AND my energy is through the roof!

Thich Naht Hahn has written some fantastic books about mindfulness. In my experience, that has been the most effective approach to reducing anxiety. Mindfulness helps me stay focused on the present moment instead of anticipating what MIGHT happen in the future. Maybe that approach would help you too. There are no side effects. Your local library can find the book to loan you.

...sorry to jump in. I have had and still have side effects from meds... but also even vitamins, B, D. Also have anxiety so yes its difficult to know which is which, but I feel it's a combination. My spouse and I take Imodium but both from different pharmacies and made by different manufactures, curious I checked both makers of the pills/ingredients and each one not only had the main drug (loperamide) but a list of "other ingredients." So I wonder, as most other"pills" have ingredients to actually mix with the main med., for instance, for colour, stability of ingredients, what the "shell" of the pill is coated with etc. etc. these can, or can they, cause side effects including nausea? Even checking these two I was so confused and most meds if you check have other "ingredients"... it goes on and on. Also annoys me a bit when nice pharmacist says, oh that list of side effects is just for insurance purposes, maybe only one person had that side effect etc. etc. as I am often "that one." When we get a prescription for a specific medication in a pill, we are also ingesting many other additives to those pills .... but to me its a maze. Just a suggestion maybe same "drug", different manufacturer" Does this make sense?. J.
